I've done that very trade. In fact do it almost every year.

Abrasive is good for $4$ trades. Cheap and safer to ship on your end.

As long as the temps are above freezing and the cans don't explode.

Once its released is it pretty easy to find in the metro or does it fly off the shelves?

The initial delivery usually flies off the shelves pretty quickly, each delivery after that seems to last a bit longer and by the end of the season you can typically find it pretty easily.

Has anyone heard about their distro plans for Abrasive? I am waiting patiently in Iowa, hoping they open the Surly floodgates with an Abrasive distro.

I can not wait to have regular access to Furious.

I don't have any insider info, but I personally would be really surprised if Abrasive made it out of the state, other than maybe Chicago since they are already distributing there. I have heard IA brought up a number of times to get Surly when they are fully running, but I would guess it's going to be the normal beers at least to start with (Furious, Bender, Hell, Coffee Bender, etc...). Again, I don't know more than you do on this though so don't take my word for it.

I don't see why Abrasive wouldn't be included. We will know for sure in just over a month

@bditty187 Did this come up at all?

Illinois received its fair share of Abrasive last year. Hoping 2015 is the same!

It didn't hit Chicago until late and near the end of it's run last year, I think people were starting to accept it was going to make it. That may have had to do with the old brewery being at capacity though. So who knows, I would assume their regular beers are the priority and stuff like Abrasive is very dependent on output of the new brewery.

The canning line is from Italy, and they had an Italian tech who was over seeing it's roll out, but he went home for Christmas, so that might have something to do with the delay.

    Plus the missing parts...
Which makes me wonder, why buy a line without parts... :astonished:

All I heard at a tasting festival this last year was about how people are planning on buying/trading/hoarding abrasive. I hope they pump out a good quantity of cans this year.

I refuse to get worked up about Abrasive. It will be in my mouth and fridge in less than 2 weeks. In plentiful and readily available amounts until it's done. No hoarders will interfere with my enjoyment of this or any beer.

Keep it in the fridge @ 40F and it will last. Still amazing at almost 1 year old. 60 day old Heady on the left for comparison.

I think I'd cannonball a 2yr old can of Abrasive right now!
