Ned kelly,s, Nikki's lionhead, ridgeview, woodmans, on the east side however superior liquor and the allouez liquor is all you have to choose from and if you are used to chicago and madtown then of course expect to be underwhelmed. Nikki's is the place if you want more character and have the best green bay burger in town and Ned Kelly's is the place if you are willing to dish out a little more and ask for the cellaring menu, or go on Monday nights when all craft beers are half off including the cellar.

However on very little known secret is located north of green bay in a town called pembine. Black Husky beer is a godsend and I love their pale ale. It's the bomb! The place you get it is in the little local grocery store that again doesnt look like much and their black husky stock is in a different place than the rest of the beer. I have been working to get it down at some places in Green Bay.

btw, the new childrens museum is across the river from Titletown. The public museum is across the street from titletown. Difference is... you'll find a case on brewing in the public museum. Theres a new place that opened next to the childrens museum, Hagemeister Park, named after the historic brewer (or one of them) in green bay. I'm not sure what to expect of this new one, but I am kinda expecting the brewing to be on par with Legends and Curley's Pub, which is not much. Green Bay likes traditional, middle of the road stuff, which makes titletown and hinterland kind of an anomaly. Still there is a rise in craft beer like even at the farmers market.

Titletown does make some real good brews (especially SapSucker and Hopasaurus Rex) and Hinterlands saison this year has a nice mace flavor.

Other than that expect to ask friends from madison and milwaukee to grab a bottle of FFF every few weeks, or get on ridgeview's e-mail list and watch for the surprise visits like getting a Growler of Sneaky Pete IIPA or a keg tapping of an oaked firken.

btw, if you are 4 miles east of the downtown, you are in a dead zone craft beer wise. Superior liquor is your CLOSEST place and though you can get some things, dont expect a lot. A third of their mix and match beer is bmc. Shopko express in ledgeview has a better selection in their mix and match, and right next to it Gray Stone Ale house has some craft beers on tap (you'll get real sick of NG Spotted cow as the main craft beer option in GB)

I know, not a bottle shop, but Central Waters runs should be on your rotation (I'm very sure you know this already, but noting the positive). CW is GREAT!

I'll be at emerald park villas apts. when I move in in August I'll have to open a few awesome beers with the local BA scene and hopefully meet some new friends. I don't know anyone up there except the people I have met at work!

I'm not from Green Bay, I live in the UP, north of you about 4 hours. If you are ever up this way, hit me up man I'd love to chat. Or if I'm ever down that I will bring some Short's love and other good stuff for you.

So yeah if you are off of Verlin the best places you can go are either Festival Foods east (don't be shocked at the free samples of shock top at the front) and Superior Liquor.

A little farther Allouez Liquor, Graystone Ale House, Nikki's Lionhead. Avoid The Rite Place unless you want to be scoffed at for ordering a fancy pants beer like that Alaskan Amber they just got in.

Also checked today and it doesnt seem like Hagemeister Park will be brewing beer so skip that... Unless you want to grab a brew and walk out to the city deck.

tried Hagemeister Park (or what I now call Harry Potters, check out the logo) http://hagemeisterpark.com/party_planning.html
Very loud, very "in" scene, had Hopasaurus rex and a friend ordered or at least tried to Lips of Faith.
took as half an hour to get someone to stop for us.

Granted this was 10:45 on a saturday night during hot summer, but still... eye contact didn;t work, big smile, didnt work, looking into their eyes as they walked by the table a foot away and they look away and pretend not to see you.

I mean come on, 4 people and no one has a drink for half an hour?!?

No beer menus available but our waitress allowed us to look at the waitstaff cheat sheet.

Served in appropriate glasses. We were in the quietest part of the part and still had to yell to each other. And at the 30-50years old we were the oldest people in the bar.

Nikki's for my wife and I. Nikki's is intimate. This was where you go if you're having a bachelorette party.

Odd thing is they have real good historic photos of GB and the Packers, bad thing is that the music from the bar will blast you up against them.
