I think both ways can be fine. I enjoy and get the reasoning for glassware, but sometimes I just want to pop a bottle and get to drinking. I find this truer with some styles, suck oktoberfest beers.

Bottles always get poured into a glass. Cans can go either way, barring obvious exceptions like Ten Fidy.

If I'm going to be sharing or its new a glass is mandatory. But if its something like celebration that I drink every year and go through 3-6 sixers a week I don't care.

I always pour into a glass at home but if I'm going to a byob party or event I usually go straight from the bottle unless the host offers me a glass to pour it in.

Honestly, if its a 12 oz can/bottle or 16 oz can, theres a good chance ill drink it straight from the container.

But a 16 oz bottle and larger just feels wierd.

Drinking from the bottle or can is fine if I just mowed the lawn (Hamm's) but, for a really good beer I need to see it, smell it and possibly swirl and pour the sediments.

Bottles I will tend to pour into a glass wherever possible. Certain cans though I will choose especially for their portability for BYO restaurants, parties etc such as Half Acre Daisy Cutter.

As long as I don't smell Aluminium & I think technology has taken care of that for the most part. I swung over to the canned side so much that there a few styles that are truly off putting in that format. When I have my first barrel aged canned beer, then all bets are off...

I drink most Sam Adams out of the bottle.

Some styles scream for a glass & many beers are so much better with proper glasses or even a not correct one that lets the attributes of that beer to shine through. But we're just drinking & having fun & not trying think real hard about beer, drinking from the bottle works as long as there are no floaties, microbes & other things making me regret that choice in the AM...

Sometimes, there's no other option. I don't take fancy glassware on a fishing trip and going fishing without beer is, well, wrong. There are plenty of beers that taste best when they are cooled in the river and consumed directly from a bottle or can. Most of them are your basic thirst quenchers like Corona (clear bottle with a lime - yup). Not "real" beer, but tasty nonetheless.

I don't. I always pour into a glass. But more power to you, everyone should drink what they want, however they want to do so!

Can you find Summit Saga in cans where you're at? If not I'll toss a couple your way. One to drink from your teku, and one that you have to promise me you will drink from the can.

On that note, I went home and tried celebration from the bottle last night. Good, but better out of the glass in my opinion.

I will take a look. I always give a can the benefit of the doubt before I nay say it. A couple of examples. One was Ten Fidy. Drank it from the can and it was great. Second one poured in to a glass even better. Another example was Contact High by 4 Hands. This one came in a 360 can; where the whole top comes off. I drank that one from the can. In both instances, for me, it was letting the brew "breathe" a few moments. Contact High in that can was really great. I heard that 4 Hands is doing away with 12 oz. bottles and going to cans. A 360 can would be a plus for that format. In Ten Fidy's case, giving it a good pour and letting it build a head. Can't get that from a bottle or can.

Back to what you said; of course I'll try one from the can and one in a glass.

I agree. I usually pour bottles into a glass but with cans it is about 50/50.

Other than Miller High Life and Carta Blanca, I like beer out of a pint glass or a mug more than out of a bottle/can.

Guess I'm old fashioned, and tend to drink right out of the bottle or can, instead of pouring it into a glass. Even the more special beers(as I sadly have too few friends in life *sigh*. I blame my introvertedness), like Bourbon County. I will sometimes pour a beer into a glass, but usually only select bottles of beer. I almost always drink cans of beer right out of it, unless I'm splitting it with someone else.

Absolutely! Our entire 12-pack of Celebration sucked this year, and yes it was bought fresh. Just bready malt with some pine resin, no citrus or sweetness, and low bitterness. It drank so much better straight from the bottle. We always do this with IPAs past their prime (for lack of date code, etc). For whatever reason, they're far more palatable from the bottle or can. But apart from that circumstance, almost everything is poured into a Speigelau tulip.
