    Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried doing a Super Bowl Square Beer it forward? If not, do you think it would be possible?

I love running super bowl squares with my friend every year and it makes watching the superbowl that much more entertaining. So naturally I gave thought in turning it into a little BIF. Heres what i came up with as far as how it would work.

-There are 100 Squares. 20 people will be allowed to join, Which means each person must choose 5 separate squares.
-After each quarter, you look at the final score, and the person who's number matches, wins that quarter. So we will have up to 4 winners.
-As far as how the beer gets distributed, if you don't win a square, you have to ship a box. So of the 20 people, only 16 will be sending packages (the 4 winners will not have to ship). 16 packages divided by 4 winners means each winner will receive 4 boxes from 4 different people. I will match people up in terms of location, so you'll be shipping to the closest winner opposed to sending halfway across the country.

I would create a google documents spreadsheet and use A-E on the vertical and 0-9 on the horizontal. So to pick squares, you would say " B6, D2" ect ect. Once i have 20 people that have picked 5 squares, it will close.

*Please note* This is still in the suggestion stage, so there is no signing up. If we get enough people that think it would be a good idea, then i will edit the OP and finalize it (with more specifications as far as how it works, and the beer requirements)

    Thanks guys,

NICE! And yeah 64oz seems to be a fair standard for these contests. Just wanted to make sure there were no kinks in my idea for this contest and that people would join before i finalized it.

Have you run anything like this ? Is there a minimum amount of trades required or are there going to be newbies? As each winner gets 4 boxes would not be good if someone does not ship ?

Great idea! So if someone wins 2 squares would they get a total of 9 boxes since there would now be 17 "losers"?

I have not. But i think to be fair to everyone playing, they should have some sort of trading feedback to prove they are trustworthy. Is there a standard minimum feedback in most threads? if so what is it?
As i stated, this is still in its suggestions stage. I will edit the OP once it gets enough interest.

Thanks for bringing this up! And you are correct. Heres how it would look if one person was to win multiple squares

    4 Winners- 4 boxes each.
3 Winners- 9 boxes for person who won 2 squares, 4 boxes for other 2
2 Winners- 14 boxes for person who won 3, 4 boxes for other 1
    1 Winner- 19 Boxes.

I will post this in OP!

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

You can probably get at least 50 people I think @Damian74Shensky ran a super bowl square BIF last year. You can look his up his if you go back 9 or 10 pages on the Beer it forward forum.

Ill look his up for reference, but he must have it set up a different way as far as winners go. because after doing the math...

at 50 people, and 4 winners, thats 46 losers. 46/4 is 11.5. So the winners wouldnt get the same boxes. does that make sense? lol

Last year it was 100 people, 24 boxes per winner. We used footballpot.com and everyone would log in and pick a square. I allowed people to pick 2 boxes but they agreed to ship two boxes.

I'm gonna skip running one this year actually thinking of trying to jump in that " the locals" thread. @Syracuse12 convinced me too.

I'm out this year also, looking to get out of many of the sports BIFs and into regular BIFs. Although I can't stay from some. I'll definitely be in for a March Madness one.

You should. Nothing you need to do, sending beer wise, unless you want to. Good conversation. Most of the guys we've seen in many of the BIFs are there. The BIFs really are fun, and I think a little more 'safe', if you will. Anyway, come on over and read and post once in a while...

OP, if Damian isn't running his, I'm in on this one.

Either way you want to run it, is fine with me. I'd suggest letting as many people as want join in. Limit to 2 spaces to start. Each space is a box of beer, maybe 44oz of good local. If you don't fill up, offer a 3rd square for others (again costs another box). But, have 20 folks with 5 squares works too.

We've done it either way on the actual squares too, sign up for a square (B1, C8, etc) and either have it already known the what the square is, or randomly assign the numbers on the axis after everyone signs up. I'm good with either...

    It'll be a blast.

Yeah, i have messaged damian and he said he is not going to run one this year, so i will move forward in doing so. I will mimic his format from his pool last year. That way people who will be returning from last year know exactly how it is going to work.

Allow me until tonight to create the pool on footballpot.com.

I think it would be best if i create a whole new thread seeing as its going to be a different format then what is in my original post. there i will explain exactly how everything is going to work, using damians thread from last year as a format.

Thanks for everyones feedback! This should be fun!

Hell yeah! Between you and Dennis, I have a hunch The Locals is going to end up doing internal sports related stuff pretty soon...

@xICooRsYIx if you do end up doing 50 people instead of 20, you can have the halftime/final winners get more than the 1st/3rd quarter winners, that's pretty common in cash pools of the same type. 10 for each 'quarter' and 13 for each 'half', for example, or even an 8 to 15 split if you want to emphasize the 'half's

and you might even consider sending a BM to each of those participants, at least those that are still active, to drum up some activity (presumably one or two large group BMs, send it out with the link to your NBO then lock it).

@Lehighace06 I think im just going to keep it as being an equal pot for all 4 quarters.

would you guys like to see overtime implemented or no? Basically the 4th quarter would either be the final 4th quarter score, or if the game was to go into overtime, it would be the final overall score.
