wouldn't be surprised if they are still around.

also, tried the hops n roses today and was pretty blown away - very dense floral taste, but the brett adds a nice element of barnyard funk and sweetness and the oak seems to round it out. very in your face fresh cut flowers though. really unique and delicious.

I hope so but I'm not counting on it. That's one good thing about these silent releases. There aren't swarms of people showing up and buying all of the bottles in one day. I am going to miss their old school/picnic table releases though. They were some of the most fun days of drinking I've ever had. It got a little crazy at the end and the castleton/barrel select release was a nightmare but it was such a great time meeting up with other BAs and sharing amazing beers.

Also, your description of Hops n Roses makes me more sad that I might miss it.

I honestly think that 2nd week in July should be enough time for you to still get bottles at the brewery. Just going by Mother Barrel bottles still sitting on the shelves there. I would not worry too much. Good luck.

That's a good sign. When were the Mother Barrel bottles released?

agree with beer world. mother barrel is still available. if you get shut out of hops n roses, converse with me...i'll help you out with a bottle.

that being said, if you don't get shut out, converse with me as i'd love a few more bottles of that gem.

My memory fails me but I believe it has to be close to a month at this point. Barrel Select Black sat for some time there as well. I definitely see a new trend here with the silent releases: it ain't sold out in one day! :grinning: You should be fine. The new location is very nice and spacious compared to the old one. You'll enjoy your time there.

agreed, the space is wonderful. leave yourself some time to do some solid tasting. they have 3 pilot batches up right now. all were great not to mention a plethora of other offerings. i took the wife and baby and everyone had fun. we tried to do the brewery tour, but my daughter decided that tour time meant screaming time so we tried to be respectful and bowed out of the tour and let her run around the brewery chasing around all the dogs that were there. really a great day...couldn't be more impressed with the new tasting room.

They didn't have the pilot batches yet when I was there but talked a lot about them during the free tour. Also a couple things: they now serve limited but tasty food in the tasting room and for only $2 for a purchase of a tasting glass you get to enjoy unlimited CL taps for as long as you're there. The new place makes you feel like you actually want to spend there an hour or two and that's one of the biggest positive differences for me.

got to try both of them today thanks to my generous friends that came to visit. the hops and flowers is very elderflowery (think st. germain or mamouche - weeding the garden) but not quite as sour as i was hoping for. maybe with some age on it?
the mother barrel was just simply amazing, though. very good beer.

yeah, and the tasting glass is pretty bad a$$ too...i picked up a few extra on my way out for some trading partners who are into glassware. i found all 3 pilot batches to be really nice...drank a growler of the IPA wheat today with the wife. damn fine.

you must be a fan of the super sour? i really dug the hops n roses...VERY flowery indeed...fresh in your face flowers...i found mother barrel to be over the top sour.

4.5 hours from Syracuse . . . but I really want to visit. And would really love to get my hands on Mother Barrel and Hops n Roses. Worth a pilgrimage? (And the cost of gas?)

I should be there today with a few buddies if anybody wants to meet up. Probably get there around 3-4ish.
4.5 hours is a long way, but I really liked both sours. And you can get up to 2 cases apparently so it's not like you're driving that far for 3 bottles. But 4.5 hours is a long way

I'll be there on Saturday around noon. Please do leave hops n roses around  I'll also be cracking a bottle of Hardywood Gingrbread Stout with the gang from CL. Feel free to chat me up and I'll pour you a taste, if there's any left of course

CL is very strict on bottle sharing now so I'd check with them before opening anything.

Already checked with Aaron about it. It won't be anything big, but wanted to share the wealth if a couple BA's showed up at the brewery early.

If there is any hops n' roses or mother barrel still left and anyone wants to trade a few take a look at my gots on my profile page under info and maybe we can set something up.
