That 2009 Bourbon version was outstanding. Brandy is also very good.

2009 was the best beer I have ever had. Period.

    ^^ This! ^^
I didn't enjoy the 2011 nearly as much

The 2011 brandy-barreled version was great, but to be honest I wouldn't buy more than one at the price they were asking. I'll wait until the reviews on this one come in but I may extend that rule to this one preemptively.

2011 Brandy was the best beer I had in 2014, hands-down. Looking forward to the 2013!

This was my gripe about 2009, I saw it on shelves forever and couldn't justify the price. Literally every place had it so I finally pulled the trigger after a lot of debating, and was blown away. The next week I went out to stock up and it was nowhere to be found. Just like that, one bottle sold me, and it seemed everyone else tasted and agreed with on the same weekend, and they all stocked up first. Took five months of combing the internet to find three more bottles online for sale at shops, and that was it. This time I'm not making that same mistake.

I think this thread answered a question I had been wondering for a few weeks but forgot to ask. I saw a bunch of bottles of 2011 cellar reserve at the liquor store and thought maybe they had just been sitting on the shelf in the store forever. Haha thanks fellers.

Yeah the cellar reserves come out 2+ years after the year dated on them. I don't think the 2011 cellar reserve came out until very, very late in 2013, as I didn't even see it until Easter 2014.

How much does a bottle of this generally cost?

    Does this distribute nationally?

I'd like to know the same.

yeah. i don't know about *best* but i'll put it this way: that was a very expensive bottle relative to other BA beers even then, and i am a very cheap man... and i bought several. after you have it once, can't resist.

In my area, 2011 goes for $30-$35 :grimacing: ... a lot considering how little is in the bottle. (They use some HEAVY-DUTY bottles to store it in, so you don't get as much as you'd think unless you read the label carefully.) Still, absolutely fantastic stuff!

It literally tastes like bourbon flavored brown sugar. I could drink it all day long...grabbed a 2013 last night to have this evening and this time, if it's anything like 2009, I'm stocking up. Price be damned, I want to have enough to last me the next four years.

Though spendy, the 2011 Old Stock Cellar Reserve in Brandy barrels was one of the best BA beers I think I've ever had. Top 5 at least. Will be picking one of these up.
