Hoptimum seems like a perfect comparison. As a Maximus fan what about that comparison? Both have that sweet hoppy flavor. I find that in Maximus the sweetness comes from the hops and less from the malts though.

I personally do not like Hopslam fresh and I don't think Evil Twin Molotov Cocktail taste like Hopslam. Also, mad love to Bells as they do great stuff. Just into that beer is all.

It's worth a shot- I get a lot more pineapple in Maximus, but when it's really fresh it does seem to be more citrusy.

Chill wave is better and tastes similar IMO.

Stay the fuck away from the Double Trouble till you can get it fresh. Just had one been in the fridge 4 or 5 months.........not good.

This is what I was going to recommend. Or even the Burton Baton if available.

I personally haven't had much that tastes like Hopslam, but the thing that jumps out to me about the beer (which, admittedly isn't my favorite) is how smooth it is (very balanced, not too bitter). In that sense, you might want to try finding her some Zombie Dust (yeah, I know, you'll probably have an easier time finding Hopslam).

As a visitor, Heady seems to require not so much 'searching' as 'planning' at this point. You need to know what store gets it and on what day of the week; then be there when (or very shortly after) the truck arrives. From what I hear, it's like a "brewery only release" at every store that carries it, every time it arrives. Sadly, it does not just cascade from every fountain in the state.

@VTR's answer, while obviously provided with a lot more local experience, also seems to include the relationships from being a local; my above comments are based on conversations I've had with folks doing what you're looking to do as a pure visitor.

I think Hi-Res is similar to Hopslam.
It should be out in the next couple of weeks with a "slightly tweaked" recipe

They both sound good. We will give them a shot here soon when I can get a hold of them!

Pipeworks collabo with 4 hands called square grouper is an imperial ipa with honey added. Hopslam was my first love with beers that have honey added, square grouper has taken the crown from hopslam unforunately its brewered as often as hopslam, once a year :slight_frown:

There should be a law in FL that anyone who likes beer has, at least, tried Jai Alai!

I just thought of another worth trying... Victory Dirtwolf, which is a Double IPA with pale malts, citrusy character, and AVB similar to Hopslam. Victory has wide distribution, so it should be fairly easy to find too.

Also since you say you live in VT and if you are looking for an IPA brewed with honey, Fourteenth Star has their Honey IPA.

Someone already mentioned it but Six Point Hi-Res is damned good too as a DIPA.

I was going to say that I think Hopslam is way over-rated but then I realized the OP wanted a similar brew, so he and his wife must like it. Can't help-sorry

Instead of listing IPAs close to Hopslam, we list IPAs better than Hopslam that are easy to get?

Probably can't get in FL but if you can trade or come across in your travels, try Odell's Myrcenary or Knee Deep Hoptologist.
