Had a chance to try the Event Horizon yet? The 'brewery you'd never heard of' is my hometown brewery so wondering what you think... Event Horizon is the one people talk most about and after this year's release (which was really late) I ended up sending a case out to people in this thread, minus the two I kept for myself (though I'm fairly certain I could go pick up as much more as I wanted to still if anyone still wants any). The one I sent you is actually aged from last year.

 

Didn't take a picture (phone was dying), but my #VBS for the night was Town Hall Jack Frost, quite possibly about my favorite beer of there's and a really awesome RIS.

 

I believe that the White and Lavendar is Vanilla Java...Yummy...

I know that the Lavender is Java (I have one in my basement), and I've looked at the chart (listing the wax color and variety) multiple times as I continue to try to convince myself that $30 is too much for a bomber. IIRC, the extra white is for Vanilla... My memory has led me astray in the past though...

 

Unless the overnight storage conditions are awful, my box should be fine. If the other beer boxes I've received in the past are any indication, my house is fairly early on the fedex route, so it won't spend the entire day in a cold truck (past boxes have arrived around lunchtime if not earlier), and I'll be home all day so the second it arrives I can bring it in.

No, I haven't tried it yet, because I knew it could age and between prioritizing hoppy stuff and having "assigned days" in the 12daysofxmas BIF I haven't gotten to it. But I'm looking forward to it!

 

This did not happen to me, but to someone I was shipping to. Got a guy in West Lafayette who pays me to ship him PW's. I don't usually like to mule like this (prefer the trade game) but he's a legit dude. Anyway, I don't ship him my styro's because they never come back (learned that the hard way) and one of my bottles broke in the box. FedEx held the box at their Lafayette location and made him go pick it up. No fee was incurred but they wouldn't deliver it to his house. Fortunately he was close and it worked out, but sometimes I wonder how these carriers handle boxes because that thing was packed tight.

 

I wouldn't worry to much about the delay on Abyss as long as it does eventually come. After all, it does have a BEST AFTER date, so they are doing you a favor and aging it for you. After trying one fresh, you should definitely respect the bottles wishes and not open prematurely. Not bad, but a little thin, needs time to develop in the bottle.

 

Holy shit @rspauldi !! This box is packed like it was going into a minefield! pr0n to follow as soon as I get everything unwrapped (legitimately took me 3 minutes just to unpack the first beer!)
