What? What were all the cans people got at the taproom, and the picture of a wall of abrasive that got passed around. Are we really not getting any this month?

Abrasive will not be brewed for a 6 month run...

if you dig earlier in the thread, it seems as if the cans they were serving opening weekend were just a test run... I was there on opening weekend and drank 3 cans myself, delicious... The rumor is they are working on their canning line before abrasive goes out to distro, I don't have any inside info on that though.

...and if memory serves, I think those test run cans still had just the Brooklyn Park address listed which may be why it stuck to taproom only.

so is it safe to say this first batch of Abraive will be old as soon as it's canned? If they were serving it weeks ago at the opening, i highly doubt that was a small batch of cans just for that prupose. Maybe i'm off here but it seems its ready and waiting but there are other hold ups. Seems like something Founders would do!

That's not the impression I got.

It sounds to me according to this thread, twitter, and bartenders at the taproom like they brewed some to use up some old cans, test out the new equipment, and appease the fans during opening weekend at the brewery.

This would make sense to me... not sure how many cans are in a test batch like that, but they certainly sold a ton over the course of the weekend+. Place was at capacity basically the whole time.

It is an awesome reference ( I love Caddyshack) - just been too long since I've seen it.

didn't really want to start another thread so i'll put it here

hopslam will be distributed to MN the week of Feb 2.

once again we'll be getting it 4+ weeks after bottling. puerto rico will have HS before MN does.

Maybe Bell's is sore at you guys for letting the cat out of the bag early with Black Note last year. You TC folks had it available before the Bell's General Store did, somehow.

hmmm. When is the last time this happened? Last year I bought it in January with bottle dates of 1/11 so definitely not close to 4 weeks old. Do we know if everything is bottled now and will just sit until 2/2 or are they continuing to bottle multiple batches?

Probably not that big of deal either way with Abrasive within our sights!

With Abrasive season overlapping heavily with Hopslam season this year (unless I wander into Town Hall), I'll likely be drinking nothing else hoppy for months. Yippee!

We usually see two different bottling dates spread across the metro. They still seem to always be distributed at least two weeks after bottling though.

Right, and AnalogErik misunderstood what BeerBuyerBill wrote and thought he was saying Abrasive would not be released until 6 months from now. So I reiterated what Bill wrote. :sunglasses:

Town Hall does have the 750ml growlers now, which makes it much easier to finish! Although I was a little irritated with the way the owner just up and closed the Green Mill in Roch (I am not a green mill fan, just felt bad for the workers), I listened to other people's opinions on it and lightened my stance. I will be going there often for fills of Masala Mama (bot for trading and drinking).
