    La Boheme was indeed amazing.

i like what Cory does at Side Project....not just aging beers in wine barrels, but fermenting them in the barrels, as well. i really don't know if that's standard practice for most wine barrel aged beers or not...i just know it's pure magic.

Wine Barrel Noir is worth a shot ... at least it was for me. I loved it. It was juicy, something stouts never are.

Karbach tried its saison in wine barrels, and I thought it was good (Barn Burner is the base beer; Roll in the Hay is the barrel-aged version). Ironically -- or at least reverse from what I expected -- the wine barrels sucked all the sweet out of it and turned it into what I'd expect is a truer saison. Very dry.

I really love cafe noir from tap it. Imperial coffee porter aged in pinot noir barrels, fantastic flavor.

I prefer styles like sours and saison aged in wine barrels. I am kind of iffy on stouts aged in wine barrels.

I had Heavy Seas' barleywine aged in Cabernet barrels with two years on it and it was amazing. I prefer malty beers like barleywines and stouts aged in red wine barrels but I like about everything else that's been aged in wine barrels too. I'll even say I prefer wine barrel aging to liquor barrel aging.

I had a Wild Ale by Almanac called Pluot aged in wine barrels. It was lights out fantastic but it assaulted my palate big time. The concept of aging beer in wine barrels is interesting to me. I would like to see more breweries do this more often.

@deford I don't believe 61 is barrel aged. The wine flavors come from the addition of Syrah grape must.

Other than Sour Ales, I really dug Victory's Red Thunder.

I know they don't do distribution out of Colorado but if you can manage to get anything from paradox brewing it awesome. Almost all there stuff is aged in Oak wine barrels

Karbach Bodacious will blow your wewe off (FUN 001 and 010). 001 was only available in Houston but 010 should have at least made it to ATX and Dallas.

As catfish mentioned, Cabernet Laika is a RIS from Straight to Ale aged in wine barrels. I don't really love it, but it is the only stout I have ever tried aged in wine barrels.

Farmhouse Ales work well in wine barrels.

I've got a bomber of dogfish head red & white from 2012 in the cellar... It's a wit fermented with pinot and then aged in an oak tank. Never had it before and I really have no idea what to expect, but this thread is making me thirsty!

2013 Struise Tsjeeses Reserva Belgian X-Mas Ale Port Barrel Aged is worth seeking out. Strictly speaking its a Belgian Strong Ale but that port barrel gives it some nice lashings of complexity.
