It is just the way the whole craft beer scene is these days, local or not people find a way to get the beers they want.
I don't mind who buys them or who doesn't honestly, good for Alpine that they sold out quickly.
People who work there that know the regulars make sure that they don't miss releases, I have missed some by either not standing in line or ordering but have found bottles waiting for me, at many different breweries here in San Diego.

Mostly the difference is just in the perception. Both a society and an informal/formal agreement to give perks to locals serve to reward a certain set of people (and make those people feel valued/important). The society just makes the role of spending money more explicit.

So the persons plan is to drive 700 miles to procure a beer he can trade or profit from? Sounds a bit far fetched

I for one would love if Alpine had some kind of membership/society type of deal.

I'll have stamp cards up on Etsy within the hour guys. We can totally keep track of our brewery visits and then redeem them for online entitlement credit.

This whole discussion started because someone said BPT was the most fair way of doing things. I just object to that use of the word fair. I don't have a problem with LA, Vegas, etc people getting Kiwi Herman and I'm glad Alpine sold out. As I said earlier, I wouldn't be bitching if I missed out. I missed out on Modern Times sours, partially because I posted it in a large Facebook group where a bunch of out of towners could, and did, purchase it. That's just the nature of the hobby now. There's nothing wrong with it and there's no best solution, but to use the word fair is a far stretch.

You really don't have a grasp of the hobby then. I shouldn't have used Vegas as I know someone who lives in Vegas and does SD beer releases and I really like the guy. Let me start using Phoenix. F those guys

Once again though, it's not a perfect solution either. There is no perfect solution.

Will let you know when I crack another round of the Modern Times sours, you are more than welcome to come.

Someone said it was photoshopped. I disagree. My detective work says that is an empty bottle. I don't see the top and that date on the blind pig might say 4/17/2014. Noself respecting advocate would keep a Blind pig to age. My detective work is done.

    Blown the case wiiiiiiiide open

I really wish there were more synonyms for "entitlement".

If driving 10 hours for and spending 60 on gas is part of the hobby of selling and trading then you are correct.

Hahaha, k, believe what you wish. I'll crack it open on the 24th this month.

That BP is 9/17/2014. I am doing the same aging with it that I am doing with Pliny, curious at what point it begins to fall off.

You are a God among men, but we both know I'm just someone who argues with people on the internet and never leaves my place

I do need to make some beer friends though. I have a Chez that needs cracked.

That's what it's turned into unfortunately. You can't tell me someone's eyes didn't light up in dollar signs when they saw the new Chez is released.

Personally, I'm not even that big on Kiwi Herman. I hope it's grand, but name one amazing strawberry sour? I'm hoping the kiwi helps things out.

I enjoy arguing on the internet as well, we may become good beer friends, we can even crack the bottles while still posting and arguing on BA, laugh, high five about it, then open another bottle.
