Other Half Brewing

BA In Absentia and AGE are also on as well as First Gold.

 

Got there around 4:30, had a glass of Other Half IPA and Beat It, Nerd and hung out at the table for about 45 mins. Picked up a 32 oz of AGE and BA In Absentia. Had a small sample of BA In Absentia and was blown away, delicious!

It was my first time at OH. I've had their beers on tap and had my girlfriend pick me up some Green Diamonds one time when she was in the area. It is an hour+ drive for me, especially today with all the Sunday drivers, so I haven't found much time to make the trip. Will definitely be back though. Nice little space and the guy behind the bar was very friendly.

 

Was it the red wine Absentia? Really good stuff. Would love to pick up another 32 oz.

 

Yea. Full of flavor and not in the way I expected. I only had about 1-2 oz of it as a sample, and plan on saving the 32 for the Isles/Rangers game on Tuesday, but I knew from the first sip it was a winner!

I must note that I was rather underwhelmed by Beat It, Nerd. It had a very off, stale flavor that I don't think was from the Brett. I've enjoyed every beer I've had from OH, but this one definitely didn't do it for me.

 

Ah man you were there when I was there. The guy behind the bar is Anthony. One of the nicest guys in the industry.

The new ones (Smokescreen and Canni'Baal) were both good.

Haha yea the cats were sitting on the table across from me. I drove in by myself and was sitting at the table in a UNCW sweatshirt wearing an Islanders hat. Probably left right after 5 to get home in time for the second half of the Indy/Broncos game.

I should be there next weekend, hopefully Saturday. Hope to meet some of you guys soon.

 

Ah you left before the bottles broke out. Got to try some stuff from Indeed, Toppling Goliath, and a vintage Cascade Bourbonic Plague from 2011.

 

Damnit! Still never had anything from TG and been dieing to try anything from the brewery. Maybe next time.

Generous customers. My friend brought the TG and Indeed. Then some guy who works for Weyerbacher had that bottle of Cascade.

 

Big fan of the Smokescreens and Oilslicks. Personally think it's their best stout yet. Just a splash of delicate smoke, silky mouthfeel, dope.

 

Any update on when Green Diamonds will start being canned?

 

I see someone added First Anniversary IPA yesterday. Does anyone have any more info on this? Are they doing anything special for their 1st anniversary?

Anthony said they will definitely be doing something on their Anni which falls on Superbowl weekend. He said they will probably do something special on Saturday.

 

Damn, I hope they change it to that Saturday. I have to go jump in the freezing cold ocean on Superbowl Sunday. I surf in blizzards, but its totally different when you are wearing nothing but boardshorts. I could really use some OH beers to warm my ass up afterwards!

Drinking Red Wine In Absentia Luci right now..absolutely fucking fantastic.

 

Damn, next time I'll have to bring a bottle or two of some stuff I've picked up out of state to share. Beer karma!

I'm fairly certain the answer is no, but they do not distribute bottles, correct? Just sold at the brewery?

 

They still had some last Sunday. I'm going tonight - I'll let you know.

 

They had easily 4 cases last Sunday around 5pm.
