Likely the other stores that do this are violating PA laws, and someone in PA saw Pearl Street was doing this and contacted them to tell them to knock off breaking the law. I assume there are lots of stores that will ship without taking a good look at the applicable laws, and when contacted by someone from the state regulatory agency then they stop.

My shipment has arrived. Got some great stuff waiting for me when I get home! If only they shipped it all in a cooler with ice.....

That's a plan. How is Jack White's album? I bought it and have it at home. I just haven't had time to sit down and listen to it.

If you're a fan of Jack White's then the album makes perfect sense. Otherwise it may come of as a bit strange. Either way, it's amazing.

We have a limit to the volume that can be shipped in don't we? Did you have a big order? I know for wine.woot some deals we can get, but if it is over 2gal or something they can no longer ship to us.

    my order was for 2x 12oz and 2x 750ml

I've never heard of a limit being enforced.
I've gone in with friends and ordered 3 cases of 750s at other shops before delivered to my work... and I work at a wine distributor where some people receive a case every week!

Probably just another rule not enforced.

"Effective July 1, 2003 Virginia law allows persons holding a shipper's license to ship wine or beer directly to a consumer's home.
Any Winery, Brewery or Retailer in or out of state who holds this Virginia license may sell and ship to you up to two cases of wine or two cases of beer per month for your personal consumption and not for resale."

well, I didnt break either of those.
I think Pearl just realized they were going to lose too much money on their free shipping deal and cancelled some orders...

I 100% agree with you that Pearl cancelled orders because they received too many and didn't want to lose more money. Ridiculous that they are canceling my order, your order, and it sounds like many other orders due to this. If they weren't able to ship to all of these states, why did they wait until after everyone placed orders to come up with this excuse?

My Pearl shipment arrived on Friday. Order was in perfect condition and everything was great. No issues whatsoever. It sounds like other people really got screwed though. Being told the beers you ordered were out of stock or that the order you placed couldn't be shipped to you is beyond whack. My guess is that Pearl never does a free-shipping-promo ever again, ha ha ha.

It's possible if they didn't cancel some orders it could have been a financial disaster for them. I mean can you imagine if you got a few thousand orders that all cost you $20-$25 to ship when you aren't making a whole lot on the beer to start with?

Not excusing them by any means, I am just saying they'd rather piss off some internet customers than go out of business.

Similar stuff happens with Groupon, businesses don't know what they are getting themselves into and they get sunk.

I just got my order today which was purchased on 6/15 and shipped on 6/18 so I guess I am one of the lucky ones. And it's a good thing the wife was home as it required signature. Hanzo is right, it had to be a business decision to cancel orders. I am sure people ordered a ton of stuff from them that they can even buy locally figuring it's easier for it to show up on my doorstep than for me to drive to the liquor store. My package alone had to cost $25 or more to ship (9 bottles) and multiply that times the mad rush of BA's (and countless others they got orders from), there is no way a small package store like that can absorb that kind of hit. And them shipping out orders probably earns them no goodwill in future purchases once the "free shipping" goes away if there are better alternatives.

I would use them again, i received my order today 6/26 ordered 6/17 fedex delivered in good shape.
I've already had two alaskan ipa's very tasty, all the product came bubble wrapped in a pliny the elder 24 pack case. I got free shipping and will order again soon.
Package came in good shape considering the 3000 mile trip.
