Lets beat the rebel name with a spiked bat. Thats what SA is doing. Rebel only appeals to novice drinkers. So this double ipa is on par with many ipas i have had, that weren't claimed as double ipas. Just another entry level ipa for those SA fans. Plain and simple.

sounds like someone needs a sip of happy juice. There's nothing wrong with an easily accessible, reasonably priced, enjoyable ipa. It doesn't matter who brews it or what it's called. They can't all be whalz bro.

I see I'm not alone: Rebel is (so far) Sam's best and we are looking forward to the Rebel Rouser DIPA. I'm not a huge fan of most of the Sam Adam's offerings but Rebel is a good IPA and always available for a good price in 7-11.

In my experience, novice craft beer drinkers have a hard time appreciating a more balanced and subtle beer. Novices need to be smashed over the head with flavor to get enjoyment out of a beer.

Its funny, it seems that the longer you have been drinking craft beer the more likely you are to be a fan of Sam Adams, go figure.

I disagree. I Loved SA ten years ago as a new craft beer drinker, not so much now. Their IPAs are weak sauce.

While I was at a bar the other night I drank Great Lakes Elliot Ness, Edmund Fitzgerald, Burning River and Sierra Nevada Pale because they were the best options and it had been quite a while since having any of them. Totally underwhelming. I won't be revisiting anytime soon.

Different strokes and whatnot, but beers like that simply aren't flavorful enough to satisfy me.

Rebel Rouser will also probably be in 22oz bottles for around $6 at least. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I sure as shit won't be buying it if that's the case.

I'm always willing to give Sam Adams some slack as it's usually my default "drinkin'" beer. It could be something.

I know they canned Rebel in single 16oz format. I wonder if they have plans for canned Rouser? Lately Sam does seem to be just copying the smaller more popular craft brewers.

Actually, it's being sold in 12oz 6-packs... I wouldn't be surprised if we also release bombers, but I'm fairly certain that the 6-packs are going to be the primary packaging option. As for the cans, I don't think we have any plans with canning the Riders or Rousers yet.

Everything I've ever tried from BB (Sam Adams) has been very mediocore and middle of the road.

Also, why is an east coast brewer making and promoting a west coast IPA?

Go harvest some Heady Topper yeast and copy that for chistsakes.

Sam Adams really needs to revamp their brand, and that includes changing the name.

The only thing from that I ever bought more than once from them was the Longshot Hazelnut Ale from the 90's, and for some reason they discontinued it.

Picked up a 6 pack tonight in RI. Nice, straightforward, citrusy IPA. I liked it. Not for everyone, but then nothing is.
