I like Insanity and felt that it really improved with a year of age on it

I REALLY enjoyed Uinta's Cockeyed Cooper. Bourbon County and Weyerbacher Insanity is good too.

I wish I thought so. I could save a lot of time and money.

And @Dupage25 yup- some sort of peated Scotch, rye, bourbon, and Tennessee for close to 2 years from what I remember. Though I don't agree with you on Bigfoot and barrels, I too love it fresh (and not barrel aged). Same with Dirty Bastard, and Double Bastard for that matter (bases for the other two I mentioned in my OP). Cheers!

Yeah but I think that was a different version. we had a bar here that had the bourbon and the scotch barrel versions on at the same time. the scotch barrel version tasted infected.

Top 5 have def been mentioned but I recently had Jacks Abbey Bride Maker and thought it was perfectly balanced with the barrel. Just wanted to mention it's name.

-My favorite style of beer, when done right. Half assed BBBWs are frustrating to me. A bad one costs the brewer just as much as a good one. All that time... all that malt... all that effort.

-Based off this blind tasting at my house months ago, Olde Hickory's Blendiculous 1, King Henry, and BCBW are truly in a class by themselves and all very similar. The ash notes of King Henry was the main difference that I could spot.

-After that it was hard to pick a favorite between Sucuba, MoaS and Kuhnhenn BBBW. They were different from each other.

-Then came the harvest ale... 2012 I believe. Maybe it needs another decade, but it was just too sweet for me.

-And in a distant 8th was insanity. It seemed out of place in comparison with the others. More of a strong/old ale.

-That 4D was great too, but wasn't a part of the blind tasting.

You don't touch Harvest Ale until it's eight years old minimum. I always get sad when I see someone drink such a young bottle. :slight_frown:

    1 - Sucaba
    2 - BCBSBW
3 - Bruery Sucre (listed as an old ale, tastes more like barleywine to me! Not much difference) Lost Abbey Deliverance would be right here too but that's categorized as a strong ale)
    4 - Revolution Straight Jacket
5 - New England Brewing Attempted Redrum

Against The Grain London Balling is also delicious.

If you are referring to infection or some astringent note like that then I understand. Band aids? Not so much. I don't plan on putting a band aid anywhere near my mouth!
