Good call on the kinks; I didn't want to assume they weren't already ironed out, but it's probably a safe bet that waiting a couple weeks would be ideal. Looking forward to trying something new! Two years from now when everyone is clamoring for them, I'll be able to say "I was drinking their beer before it was cool" :grinning:

Some more VBS: Got this bottle at Torst back in the spring, it's part of a set of 10 different barrel agings they did in collaboration with The Aviary in Chicago. This one is apparently a Belgian blonde base, and it's aged in Parker's Heritage barrels. It doesn't drink like a Belgian anything, it drinks like a flat old ale, kinda reminds me of Hair of the Dog Adam but with a really cool barrel character. I wouldn't mind some carbonation, but it's DAMN tasty.

These hit my local shop in October with a july bottle date, I tried it but didn't love it. I still see the remaining 8 from 7/14 on the shelves for $13 a bottle, no thanks!

"Triple IPA"s like 120 Minute age rather nicely, like a super-hopped American Barleywine; anyone have a clue why this one is not so graceful? Or is it that its aged self is just not what you're looking for?

Well for one, really big on the lable, and you can read it on @Will_Edgar pic " Not meant for aging, drink this beer fresh" .
Also, I've read other BA members review it very highly. It seems the common complaint is age, the people that get it fresh seem to love.
Call me crazy , but I have no interest in buying an IPA to save and later drink as a barleywine.

I get that; personally I'm of the opinion that "Triple IPA" is more a marketing gimmick, but the beer that's being brewed in these cases is generally going to BE a barleywine much more so than anything resembling an IPA, with the exception of the amount of hops that goes into it, thus "super-hopped" in my above comment.

If, other than which hops are used, 120 Minute and Simtra have recipes as similar as their shared style would suggest; it seems odd that one recommends aging while the other suggests staying away from it. Maybe this is specifically because of the hop variety used, some do age better than others.

True dat. I honestly didn't even catch that it was a triple IPA until I had it in hand... Not hating the beer at all, even at 3 months old it wasn't horrible.
@Will_Edgar in his post confirmed to me that it is better fresher, witch tells me that unless I taste it fresher than I have had it, I wont be able to appreciate it as the beer the brewer intended it to be.

Little haul from 18th St. Brewing, then followed by a IP trade outside the forum. Today was a good day!

120 minute is 18% so it's hard to compare the aging effect to a "triple" IPA that is 7% less abv. And with different recipes, some beers that are the same style age differently. Gracefully or horribly, so be it.

    I like beer.

My buddy Derek decided the best way to get the fullest aroma from a beer is to roll a teku across the table until you get a great protein synthesis on the sides all the up to the lip of the glass. #CraftBeerGenius

So about simtra, definitely enjoy that one fresh. It's a TOTALLY different beer than 120, and only compare the two because they are both "triple" IPAs. Think of simtra more of a pty than 120.

LIF time!!!! So here's the deal: anyone active in the thread can join. I will send a box of goodies to the winner full of WTFIW. I want one number from everybody that is a guess for the total of the following:

Points scored in both games today
Total passing yards for Aaron Rodgers
Total rushing yards for Marshawn Lynch
Total receiving yards for TY Hilton
    Total receiving yards for Gronk

Closest to the total wins so no Price is Right rules. Please tag me in your answer so I can make sure to record it. Good luck!!
