Sometime stampers run out of ink or get out of alignment. I'm guessing that's all.

edit: Or maybe it hadn't been installed yet since this is a new system

I really wish I would've saw this post earlier.
Didn't even think twice about the old stock shell game possibly being in play

Picked up a 4 pack at MGM Maple Grove.
No date, and it says Brooklyn Center.
Poured down the middle and the head didn't even last a minute.
I called and they said they just got it from the distributor and were going to look into it.
    Returning the other 3.
The 5 month old Abrasive I picked up back in July still tasted pretty good.
    This tastes mediocre at best.

Just talked to another guy who cracked a 1/13 (it's printed on the cans) he got from Princeton's, and he said the head on his didn't last either, and it wasn't the Abrasive he is accustomed to drinking.

Dear God, I hope this is old beer and not the new recipe....
If it is, the sky truly is falling.

How clean was that glass when you poured it?

I got mine from golden valley liquor barrel and mgm. No date but, head retains and tastes fresh as hell.

Actually joking w a friend bc we went to big louie's in crystal a couple weeks bc they had a keg of abrasive. I thought it was terrible and that maybe my tastes had changed. Nope, the keg ended up being from last year...my cans taste significantly different and retain head as usual. Sorry yours sucks.

My cans do have indented numbers on them 34-37. Does yours??

    They have 33 indented.
Glad to hear it's a different number on yours.

I'm not trying to start a panic here people - I really hope mine is just old stock.
Just pissed off, 'cause this has been my favorite IIPA for years.
Never had a head retention problem either.

Seems more likely to me that your glass killed the head than the distributor stockpiling last year's Abrasive until the release day of the following year.

Somethings changed! My palette or Surly recipe. It's still a great beer but, 19.97 after checkout, it better be the abrasive we love, know, and expect! @lonewolfcry I sympathize with you bud! And @nograz thanks much!!

If the glass was clean and free of 'defect' as indicated, why would it affect the retention? Only reason I ask is because I know a few stores around Roch held onto Abrasive well in to the summer. It wouldn't surprise me if the distribs took back unsold packs.

That's why I was asking if it was clean. Not trying to accuse him of anything other than jumping to conclusions.

Photobucket is good. Upload to PB then copy the URL and paste in post.

Thanks. I'm also blind as my first can I drank was labeled 33, not 35 which I thought. Not saying anything about anyone else beer, but here is mine at 3 different stages. All normal, outstanding and [IMG] $15.99, not $20.

Same glass with a month old Haymaker...after a minute.
I won't go as far to lie and say it's any better; but that's just not saying much for Haymaker - just wanted to try to prove my point.

But it could be the Abrasive cleaned the already spotless glass.

I would like to hear from someone who got a can from Maple Grove MGM.
But the chances of that may be slim.
