I will be arriving in Charleston for my daughters dance competition on Thursday and meeting my parents for the weekend. Bringing some good beers from DC and points beyond to drink with my Pops. We are planning on hitting up CBX and COAST Brewery (anyone know whats available there currentyly). Any other shops we should not miss while there?

Linked my google docs page of my beers in my profile in case anyone wanted to do an IP trade perhaps.

I definitely recommend swinging by Westbrook, they are doing some really good things. Cheers,

They look good. Do they do tours/tasting or have a store there? Also, what would be the best place in Charleston proper to find some of their offerings if I can't motivate my group to hit up another brewery?

Yes they do tours and tastings and you can purchase beer from them, not sure about growlers though. CBX is a good spot but last time I checked they were out of quite a few of their beers except for the usual two, white thai and ipa. Not sure where exactly in Charleston you are staying but if you wanted to you could also hit Holy City Brewing and there is the piggly wiggly on James Island, they have approximately 90 taps for growler fills, check out their facebook page for the latest list.

Go to House of Brews in Mt. Pleasant. Great selection and you can have a pint while you shop. The owner Rob is a really cool guy as well, definitely worthy the trip across the bridge!

Do they still serve the beers in plastic cups?

When I was there over Memorial Day they were serving beer in pint glasses, so I guess not.

I would recommend having a beer at CFB, Closed for Business on King Street. There are great options for beer, good food and nice decor. (along with being fairly close to a most things in downtown)

Def get your Westbrook from some place that gets it and moves it fairly quickly. Bought a 6er of their IPA from CBX last week, it was AWESOME. Ran into some later on my way out of town from Seabrook and picked up 2 more 6er's from Piggy Wiggly and they were all the foam bomb batch : (

Brewery had some JUST canned for the White Thai. Their IPA didn't blow me away but they had just canned sixers as well.

Did the family thing today, had to relent. But I will definitely put charleston on my "return for beer" list.

So I'll be in town on Thursday of next week, and I am planning on hitting up CBX, COAST, Westbrook, Holy City and House of Brews. I'll look into Palmetto, depending on how much time we get too. Which bottles should I be on the lookout for while there? I (naively) would love to find something like Blackbeerd or Brett & No Mices in a bottle to take home, but I'm pretty sure they won't be around while I'm there. Any other awesome local bottles to be had? If anyone wants any MN brews, let me know and I'll see what I can bring along. Thanks!

Love Charleston, we'll be there for two nights after out week at Myrtle Beach. I usually am beered out by then, I'm bringing 12 HT's and Case of ZD to the beach, and probably a Growler of Foothills BA Porter. By Charleston it will be Scotch and Martini time. Great restaurants all over the place, some nice shops where my wife spends too much too.
