Sometimes I'll mix things that are a little underwhelming on their own.

Ex: I recently mixed a Saranac Pale with a Saranac Porter (leftovers from the winter mix) and I think it improved matters.

We visited Toppling Goliath recently and they have an entire chalk board behind the bar of different blends of whatever beers they have on tap at that moment. Each with their own unique or funny name. We even witnessed one customer "custom order" her own blend of their beers in a very specific ratio.

I once mixed Cocoa Psycho with Tartare Rouge (both great separately) in a 3:1 ratio and it was quite enjoyable.

I've never mixed anything myself, but one of the guys at my local liquor store highly recommended a 50:50 mix of Lugene Milk Chocolate Stout and Wells Banana Bread beer. Sounds pretty tasty on paper, but I'm a little leery of any mixing.

Stouts and porters tend to mix well with eachother. I've mixed Campfire Stout from Highwater with Anderson Valley Barrel Aged, and it was fantastic. The dry, bourbon flavor mixed with the almost too-much sweetness of Campfire was a perfect balance.

well tonight i spontaneously mixed the end of a young belgian tripel homebrew of mine i was testing with a Southern Tier 2XRye and you know it was pretty damn good, the rye cut the sweetness of young tripel...

always been tempted to mix a bell's expedition stout with bell's double cream stout to re-create something close to bell's black note (although wouldn't be BA), I'm sure won't be near as good, if I decide to experiment will let all know result.

Always wanted to do KBS and maple syrup = poor man's CBS. Will probably do this now that this thread has me thinking about it...

Over the summer I mixed a Rubaeus with a Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. Worked out the ratio and it turned out fantastic.

I've tired this before, only to have the end result be so horrid and undrinkable. Drain Pour!

Did a 50/50 blend of BCBS '13 and Ten FIDY. It was ok, at best. Both base beers are much better on their own.

I have done tons of them, but my favorite is
70/30 of a imperial stout with loads och chocolate and a sweet raspberry lambic like timmermans. It is also good to make a float it you want desert.

Worst I ever did was a Punk IPA and a Timmermans Kriek. We called it "Punkarkräk" which is Swedish for Punk wretch. The word "kräk" normaly means vomit and that is more or less what it tasted like!

I've heard Bell's Cherry Stout is horrid, I wonder what I could mix it with...I have Expedition and Kalamazoo as well

I've mixed Dirt Wolf with Ten Fidy=excellent I called it Wolfidy...and I have mixed Celebration with Tend Fidy also excellent I called it Celebridy...Breakfast Stout with Global Warmer supremely enjoyable...Old Rasputin plus Two Hearted was life changing...My next mix will be Yeti and Bigfoot...mixing can be a lot of fun and yield some great results...my rule mix two beers you enjoy because if you don't like the mix you have two half beers you don't mind finishing... I also hear that Yards Thomas Jefferson Ale plus George Washington Porter is very good...it's called George Jefferson (younger BA's may not get the reference)

I'm curious what you were trying to get out of the BCBS/Ten Fidy blend? Is there a component of one that you feel the other lacks? A flavor that one has that the other doesn't? Or are you just trying to stretch the bourbony goodness of BCBS across twice as many ounces?

Try it with bourbon, the BA Cherry Stout is exceptional. Admittedly what you end up with, and the BA Cherry Stout, will be pretty dissimilar I'm sure, but maybe it's worth a shot.
