Surly Abrasive Release Info

4 out of 4 tasting great from the 1/9 cans...

 

1/13/15 canning date - very flat. Still tastes good but not as great as I'm used to.

 

When does Chicago usually see Abrasive?

 

cracked a 1/13 can i snagged from vinifera today. flat. so far, have had three different cans, purchased from three different stores, all dated 1/13. two four packs were good. todays from vinifera appears to be flat.

 

Drinking the screwed up white labeling tonight, bought a flat. Tastes like a champion!!!

 

Holy fuck this beer is awesome! !!!!!!! €€€ had heady couple weeks ago and this blows it out of the water! !!!! Its the after taste that really makes it for me.... tastes like you are burping up some kink of hop/ dank weed/ citrus extract or something.... Wtf.... I think I am Obsessing over this beer.. l cant get it out of my head....and I am a stout guy.... not an ipa guy.. this beer seriously deserves its praise and more.

 

Which one of you is this? LOL!

 

Just opened my first, dated 1/13/15 01 in white ink. Bought from liquor barrel- miracle mile.

Very low carb, but still tastes good. Guess I'm not sure what to do since I knew the risk going into the buy, any point in trying to get a refund?

 

what number is stamped on your guys 1/13 cans that are flat?

Picked up a 4 pack that has 33, I'm on call for work so I have to wait til next week to open it up

 

Try the Haskells in Faribault right off I-35. Stopped in today on my way back from Des Moines and they had just got their shipment.

 

This isn't me but I did something similar this morning at the same store.

 

02, 08, and 10. with the last can of the four pack being 07 (yet to be consumed). my 01 cans have been good.

A $15 - $20 4 pack should be nothing short of excellent, IMO.
Risk should not even be in the consumer's mind set.
Surly dropped the ball on their QC here...big time.
I would definitely take it back.

 

How do you QC a beer that's best served fresh? Sit on cans for a few weeks, open half of them, then deal with people complaining about freshness (and wasted product)? It's a new canning line, and I'm not shocked there are issues - certain growing pains are to be expected. They just need to acknowledge it, and offer refunds to any liquor store that receives returns (I don't believe they'd be allowed to remedy directly) - not sure if that's happened or not.

It's obviously not ideal, but unless it becomes a recurring issue, I don't think it's a big deal.

 

May I ask if yours had a date on the bottom?

 

How was the 1/9/15 batch? Did everything check out?
