Sadly I, along with a lot of other people, struck out on the brunch reservations for the February 7th bottle release. If any of you kind folks has an extra seat in your reservation, or a reservation you might not use, I'd say thanks with a nice bottle as well as do the driving down and back from Portland. Please send me a message if interested.

    Cheers and thanks!

Add me to the list of unlucky fuckers who didn't get a seat. If @cavemanlawyer gets taken care of, I too would be grateful for a spot. I'm 0-3 in Block 15 lotteries thus far.

This was the first time signing up for it and I didn't get it (I wasn't too hopeful). How often do they usually do these?

Seems like it's at least quarterly now.

I'll send cavemanlawyer a BM, as I've been unduly lucky with these B15 lotteries. The GF and I will be N. Calif that day, so it turns out we can't go.

yeah, I think they kind of did this one badly. not sure if they ended up doing it, but they said they would enter names twice that hadn't got in before. So that already took a "lottery" and added more of chance for other people. Of course they did that on the biggest release.

I also didn't get chosen and would love one extra seat someone might have. I could find a way to pay you back.

I'm glad someone else remembers that part. It wasn't in any of the emails, so I figure it had to be on the page where you entered the lottery.

Yeah I was a bit po'd by this. I'm not saying that it would have made a difference, but in all reality if the lottery is really random than adding certain people twice is a huge advantage. That being said I know several people who have never won a lottery at blk15 and didn't get in this time either. It's too bad they do not increase the size of the lottery and have more times. I'm not sure how many people they set aside for the brunch, from the last few releases they said they had like 300 people sign up. This time it went up to over 500 so that's a big jump. I'm not saying that people should be shut out of bottles if they don't get the brunch, but I mean they should have just kept the lottery the way has been working for a while instead of entering certain people twice. I mean how would they know? Do they have to check a master list or something? That would be a big task. How many times of denial did one have to have to qualify? These are questions I had, but in the end I guess it doesn't matter all that much. I just like sitting my fat ass down and drinking at 9am.....

...btw see you guys in Line!!!!!

Yeah, I'm frustrated too. Used to be that I raved about how civilized B15 releases were. Make your reservation, have a nice breakfast at Les Caves, pick up your bottles. Given the 500+ number, I'm starting to strongly suspect there's some serious ballot box stuffing going on, and I'd love to see them do something to prevent that. Something like pay in advance and you get a refund if you don't get in would help a bit, both as a financial disincentive to enter multiple times and an assistance to detecting duplicate CCs and addresses.

I am another "usual suspect" that got shut out on this one. Haven't decided if I'm driving down to wait in line or not.

My guess - complete speculation - is that the limitation on brunch is bottles not the ability to serve more people at brunch. If I were in the unfortunate position of running the brunch for Block 15 (unfortuante in that I'd have to dissappoint a lot of people) I'd look at the lowest bottle count beer and work back to reservations. Super Nebula Elijah Craig with Coffee is the lowest. Say there are 200 bottles. B15 always wants to give the first 40 or so people in line a chance at full allocation. That means I could seat 160 people. The restaurants may be able to serve 300 people over 2 or 3 sessions, but that's pointless if there aren't bottles.

I heard folks say something similar about 3Ls - why not put more 500mls out and increase the brunch reservations? I'd guess 3Ls are also determined somewhat by the lowest bottle count beer. If I've got 200 bottles of the Elijah Craig that's 200 allocations at 1 per. Maybe I have the equivalent of 1200 bottles of regular Super Nebula at 5 per person ... that means I could do 200 allocations (1000 bottles) and have the equivalent of 200 left over to play with. Maybe some of that goes into additional 500ml bottles, but it would give me the freedom to do some large format stuff too.

Basically B15 is in a tough position trying to satisfy the demand. Sadly, it's only gonna get "worse" before it gets better with expansion.

Once their expansion finishes, this hopefully will not be an issue,

Add me to the list of undesirables. Looks like we'll have plenty of company if we choose to queue up for this one.
