There are some over-active thread deleters on these forums. Occasionally (often?) things may be relevant to more than one forum.

Yeah... I am returning my case that I bought. Promising another batch isn't "good" enough for me to not get my money back. If I spend $100 on 24 cans of beer it better be the beer I expect. There really isn't much of an excuse to distributing under-carbonated beer when people like us are willing to drop hundreds of dollars every time this beer is released.

If you bought one 4 pack great, suck it up if you want to, return it if you want to. But when I have this much beer at this premium price it better be premium quality like it has been in years past. I am not going to power through this much under-carbonated beer hoping the next one I open is how it's supposed to be.

Once I see some newer canning dates on the shelf I will buy it back up, but I think I will wait until then to give my favorite beer another shot.

Truly disappointed that I have to wait longer.....

Based on their reviews across the board and what they have done for the Minnesota and Midwest craft beer scene.

I am so sick of all of the complaining about craft beer pricing. Beer is a luxury item and there are options out there for the budget focused beer drinker and there are options for those that are willing to spend a few extra bucks. If quality issues are resolved I will gladly pay $15-$16 all day long for Abrasive, in my opinion it is the best beer in the world.

Good that Surly has acknowledged the issue, but surprised there was no solution offered for those affected - encourage return to retailers, or whatever. I suspect this isn't the last we'll hear from Surly on the issue, but we'll see...

I tried my first 01/09/2015 can last night and it was under carbonated but still tasted awesome.

I'm sorry but Surly has got to pull all Abrasive off the shelves now. I can't believe so many BA are fine having 2 or 3 good cans out of 4 and are not caring or bringing the bad cans back to retailers. We need to bring all opened bad cans back to the retailers and ask for a refund. Open all your Abrasive cans - if good, drink and enjoy! If flat, return the can for refund. Keep your Surly receipts!

Once the retailers see problem they will complain to the distributors who will put the pressure on Surly to completely own up and fix this issue. This sucks but I'm not buying any Surly until I know all cans are good to drink.

just opened at 1/13/15....good head upon pour, disappeared really quickly....and didn't taste flat...but did taste like it was missing some carb
    Or could be placebo affect?

More like almost everywhere (well everywhere=all bigger craft beer stores)... this week was an abrasive tidal wave, most stores have not sold out as far as I have seen, may want to call first though to be safe.

I thought all of the Abrasive cans they had at the opening of the new brewery were to work out all of the kinks with the canning system? Maybe those didn't sit long enough to get flat? Surprised that they are still sending out more and more without the problem solved.

I bought one four pack with the 1/12 date. First two were perfect, third was very low carbed, but still drinkable. However, not up to the standard I would expect with any beer, let alone one with the price point of Abrasive. Haven't opened the fourth. I'm not buying any more until the problem is 100% fixed.

According to the earlier post, they believe the issue resulted in tipped cans preventing a good seam. This would be something that would have impacted the cans during that run. If the cans at the brewery were from a previous run, then the issue would not have impacted them.

I opened a can dated 1/13 the other night; it was fantastic- perfect carbonation.

Edit: I will not, however, be bringing any with me to trade while I am in Florida. I can't take the risk of trading something that might not be up to par to someone that I don't know. My regulars, on the other hand, will still get theirs ( I might just have to send them a replacement).

This is getting a bit silly and overemotional. No manufacturer of any product is going to start pulling an entire lot if only 5-25% are bad (unless it is so hazardous and could actually kill the unfortunate percentage that get the bad stuff). Asking Surly to do that is absurd. How to handle a product that didn't perform as advertised isn't rocket science:
If you got a bad can, return the 4-pack to the store for a refund - just like you would any other product. Information will flow uphill in a hurry as businesses start giving more refunds.
