That's wasn't the problem for me. I had it 6 days from the canning date and it was bad.

Was weird they sent us two random cases of the 12/22 date and the rest of it was 1/16, we had initially missed it assuming it was all the 1/16.

I haven't tried this yet, but taking all of the comments at face value, would mean that there is an enormous drop off after a relatively short time period. We are spoiled with all of the awesome fresh hoppy beers around here (I often drink Trillium bottles that are 1-3 days young), but an IPA (and especially a DIPA) should still be good after a month, even more.

Excuse the hijack, but not worth starting a new thread. The 3rd Anniversary Imperial IPL is very good. If it were in their normal rotation I would buy it before Capt D.

3rd Anniversary is the best beer made in RI. Best IPL from a brewery other than JA.

Cool, I'll have to check it out. Every time I have an IPL from a brewery that isn't Jack's Abby (which isn't that often), I am reminded how well they execute a style others can't seem to nail. Ballast Point Fathom, Founders Dissenter, etc. aren't nearly as good as even Hoponius Union and light years away from Mass Rising, Kiwi Rising, etc.

Their 3rd anniversary brew is solid as well. Worth a try if you see it.

Grabbed a 4pk from the latest batch (3/29 I believe), tastes great, definitely no diacetyl issues. Bought two 4pks of Molotov Lite last week (brewed at Two Roads), both from different shops, that had extreme diacetyl issues, it was like drinking butter, totally disgusting.

I decided to give CD a try again after having a bad (buttery) first experience from an early December batch. I picked up a 4 pack canned on 3-18 at Redstone Liquors and it was every bit as bad if not worse than the batch I had in December. The butter lingered on through the finish in such an offensive manner that I could not continue drinking it. After striking out on getting a non-buttery batch both times I give up on this one.

Incidentally, I also picked up a 4 pack of Molotov Lite last week and noticed some buttery flavor there too which I did not taste when I had it previously, but it was at least in the middle and not lingering throughout the finish quite as offensively. Anyway I'm not sure why that beer is being brought up in this thread but I'll probably not take my chances on ML again either.

Interesting. I was excited to see this on the shelves, picked up a four-pack. It was just okay. Canned 3-18. Were there issues with this batch? I just thought maybe it didn't live up to the hype or didn't appeal to my palate. I'm wondering if I need to give this another go with another batch now.
