I heard they will be giving wristbands this year to enforce the 3 pour limit.

PTY is a fine beer. That said...go have a beer somewhere with a friend. You'll enjoy it more than any rare release beer you have to stand in line for.

I waited in line in the rain last year for 9 hours with friends. Going back again this year to do it again because I had so much fun. Hoping for no rain this time though

I wonder if this will make it to Philly? What exactly is the connection between RR and Philly?

Pretty sure it always makes it to Philly. Not sure of the connection though.

Per the original blog post from RR:

We will be sending kegs to our distributors in San Jose, Sacramento, Oregon, Colorado, and Philadelphia sometime in February, ship dates TBD.

It's been in Philly for many years, though most places just got sixtels, which will literally kick in less than 30 minutes. I think I heard the story of why they distribute there, but I think it had something to do with it being a good market to test larger expansion in and Vinnie C. has a relationship with Tom Peters who runs Monk's.

Yea I Know Monk's usually has PTE, so that would explain it.

Key is to not go on the weekend. Even on a Friday afternoon in 2013, the wait was only about 2-2.5hours. I imagine mid week to be pretty easy.

You know how I know you didn't check the forums last year? I've not seen anyone report anything less than a 4.5 hour wait, yet have seen several that were much longer. No matter if that is from lining up at 6:30 AM or "popping by" at 2:00 PM on a Wednesday. It's definitely not "easy" at any time anymore unless your definition of easy is several hours.

You're absolutely right. I didn't check the forums last year for pty. I guess 2014 was a game changing year.

I went last year on the first Sunday of the release, I got there just before 8:30 am and got inside the door at 12:30. I just missed the first wave by about 10 people at 10:30. So no, not everyone had a 8-9 hour wait last year.

So what you're saying is that if you got there 30 mins earlier you probably would have gotten in at 1030am?

Good point. As long as you're with friends enjoying yourselves I guess it makes no difference whether it's really the best beer on the planet or not. (it's just that...nine hours?? Go have a couple of Moonlight beers down the street and get on with your life!!)

Have to have something to do the other days I am there. And the moonlight beers are good but the draw to that place is their burgers... Damn I want one already.

I am going for the first time this year, I have the chance to go from Feb 14-16th. I had booked plans so that I am staying in Santa Rosa Friday night to wake up Saturday morning at like 6 and go. But, it seems like everyone on here has said going on a Monday would be a significantly less troublesome time to do so.

...Dang. I might just have to stay in Santa Rosa and go to lagunitas, Bear Republic and Muir Woods and then drive up super early Monday morning for RR. :slight_frown:

This. I know at BW when they did the Cantillon event during The Festival they wrote the time you were seated on a card and put it on the table. When you're time was up you had to leave. I think it's smart with how big it's got.
