I picked up some at Vin Bin in Hopkinton, had like 4 4-packs left.

Really? I was there on Saturday and the girl told me they were sold out. :astonished:

Just a heads up, Morph cans are rolling down the line this morning. This batch features HBC-342, Ella, and Falconers Flight. 5.9% and 74 IBUs. Super tropical, nice dankness, and firm bitterness. Cans for sale in the taproom today and then heading out to stores after that.

Also, the return of Whirlpool cans is finally just around the corner. Whirlpool is being canned next Tuesday 1/20. So keep an eye out for those as well.

Just picked some up at Charles St. Liquors in Beacon Hill. Bitter and tasty.

Just tried Whirlpool for the first time. (Bought at Gordon's Watertown.) I have to say I'm disappointed. Very good aroma, tastes good, I'd say, but the mouthfeel is very thin, feels watery. And this takes a lot out of the beer.

I was able to get a 4 pack at CBC and honestly i didnt even look at the price, nor remember what it cost. All that mattered to me is that its...
    1) a good local beer
    2) i wanted it.

Havent landed whirlpool yet, but i did have it at the brewery earlier this month. Really great beer!

Yeah, I saw the cans this weekend and passed because of how I remembered Whirlpool tasting. My favorite IPA from Night Shift recently was Embark. They should can that instead.

Whirlpool is like 4% isn't it? I thought based on that it was good, certainly better than something like All Day IPA. Still think Morph is consistently one of the best canned beers I've had, I wish I could buy 12 packs at a reasonable price.

The December batch I had was very buttery - I didn't finish the 4pack. I think the 3rd or 2nd batch was as well. The beer hasn't been very consistent at all in my experience.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. Whirlpool is only 4.2% so it does have a very light body. Simple grain bill of pilsner, wheat and oats. The beer is designed to be easy drinking but packed full with juicy hop flavors.

We haven't heard of any batches being buttery. Also, Morph isn't supposed to be consistent. It changes every batch. Pretty much everything from the grain bill to yeast to hops are changed from each canning run. Some hops people like more than others as well as some batches have been more bitter so they might not all be to your personal preference. But we have been very satisfied with the quality of all the batches.

IMO the most recent batch of Morph and Whirlpool are excellent. Keep it up Night Shift!

No need to be sorry - it's not as if the beer was awful - you can't satisfy everybody.
I realize it's supposed to be a light beer. It's just I thought the mouthfeel was just too light, too watery. I have a few more cans; we'll see, maybe with adjusted expectations I'll appreciate it better.

Not sure where certainty fits in here.

I understand the concept is an ever-changing beer. I was referring to its quality which has not been consistent for me. Hops can mask off flavors pretty well for lots of people. I know other people that thought the december batch was buttery. I even skimmed random reviews and have seen the word "vegetal" used as well.

I love Morph but have not tried Whirlpool yet as I'm not big on sessionable beers - they tend to be too watery, just as described for Whirlpool...but I'm sure there are people out there who like it. The problem for me, as I know has been discussed, is the price - while I love Morph, bottom line for me is it's overpriced by at least $2 - $4 a four pack. If people buy it, great for them and great for Night Shift, but I can't justify it when there's so much other good stuff available for so much less. To be fair though, Night Shift is only one of many guilty of over charging in this very crowded market. Sorry, that's my one moment of Boston curmudgeonlyness coming through on in this otherwise happy blizzardy New England day...damn, guess I really should have bought some yesterday when I had the chance...!

Tried Whirlpool for the first time tonight. Great aroma and flavor. The finish is a bit thin, as to be expected with a low abv beer like this. This is as good if not better than Stone Go To, Founders All Day, etc. All in all, a good example of a style I don't love. Looking forward to the next batch of Morph.

I disagree. Founders All Day, Lagunitas Day Time, Notch Left of the Dial, 21st Amendment Bitter American, even Robinson Trooper - all below 5% - do not feel thin. 4% abv isn't THAT low for a beer to be expected to taste watery. Just because today 7% abv is considered normal, it doesn't mean 4-5% should lose their mouthfeel considerably.

I liked the flavor better than the Stone and don't really have a good sense of its mouthfeel since I've only had it twice months ago. Of all the beers in this category, the Notch Left of the Dial is my favorite by far. Wish it were warm enough to take a few of those to the roof deck!

I've found the quality to be very good across all of the batches of Morph. While the beer itself changes, the quality of the beer has been fantastic, IMHO. Definitely did not notice anything buttery in the December batch.

As for Whirlpool -- I've never noticed it being watery. it's a light sessionable "crushable" beer that is fantastic. It's my go to growler fill when cans aren't available. I wish I could get some cans from this batch, but my foot is broken and I can't drive anywhere... so, yea.
