Ohio beers

White Rajah, Head Hunter, and Columbs IPA. Assuming you're going to try and find these in stores. Soon enough, Jackie O's Mystic Mama will join the group, and instead of a holy trinity of Ohio pales we will have the four horsemen.

 

Great Lakes (cleveland) Burning River Pale Ale is good stuff. Their new Lake Erie Monster IIPA is good too.

 

Where specifically in Ohio is he visiting? Head Hunter JUST got bottled and shipped, and is limited to the Cleveland area from the sound of it, for now anyway. Rajah (I think) is pretty much statewide at this point, though it sometimes flies off the shelves. Same with Columbus IPA.

 

Columbus IPA doesn't get much distro outside of C-Bus. (yet to see any in Toledo)

 

Hmm, I thought the same thing until about a week ago, when someone informed me that Cleveland's been getting it for a few months now. Guess it just hasn't made it west yet

Dayton gets none of the amazing Ohio IPAs other than White Rajah unfortunately, but Columbus IPA is a must-grab for me whenever I'm near Cbus. Bodhi is really good as well, but as of now is draft only as far as I know. And we can't forget about Commodore Perry and Lake Erie Monster from Great Lakes!


For some non-IPA recommendations, Hoppin Frog's lineup is really good. Their BORIS, DORIS, and BA BORIS are some of the best stouts I've ever had.

 

It's in very limited supply here. I've seen it at Lizardville and heard another store got a couple cases. That's it.

 

Kegs of it shouldn't be too hard to find, but for now bottles are/will be rare. A few pallets made their way up to Cleveland once or twice but that's it for bottles. This will change in a month or two - as of yet we haven't put anything into the new fermentors. Once that happens Cleveland will be very happy if they like CBC.

 

And Head Hunter is coming out soon!

I have to add hoppin' frog's new rye ipa: goose juice. Great stuff.

 

Saw it at a Giant Eagle this week in Parma and Middleburg Heights

 

Soon as in I bought a case in Steubenville Ohio today, I love me some Headhunter even better in bottle format. I got 6 four packs to prove my love to this aggressive head hunting West Coast style IPA.

 

Good! I knew the distrobution has been expanding, but It's still not state-wide, yet.

 

Also seen it on tap at the Brew Kettle, and some coworkers have seen it around the Tremont area

 

Is Dark Apparition hanging out on shelves all over Ohio? (or in bottles at all) Ill be around Akron and was looking to pick this up

 

No Jackie O'S on shelves anywhere in Ohio. Once upon a time one store in Columbus would get Jackie O'S bottles a couple times a year but that time has passed from what ive seen.
