I searched the forums for something pertaining to this topic to no avail. My question: is Sierra Nevada Stout widely distributed? I live in NC and haven't seen it here in over a year. Is it even distributed to the east coast? It is the only beer in their regular lineup that I can't seem to find. Does anyone have any reason why this might be the case? Thanks!!

I see it pretty frequently. It seems to be the only SN beer other than SNPA that Trader Joe's consistently stocks, if you have one of those near you.

Their Kellerweis and Porter are much harder to find.

I am in Charlotte. Not at Total Wine, 201Central, etc. Saw one sixer at a local Harris Teeter that was bottled in January 2014.

Beric, I shop regularly at Trader Joe's and have never seen it. Interestingly, I see Kellerweis everywhere.

Interesting, we see Porter and Kellerweis and less stout. But I agree it's a great beer for the price. Solid.

If it's like in Texas, you have to look for it. We don't get it in Bryan-College Station, but I find it all over Houston.

Here in southern Indiana, liquor stores and speciality places have it, but groceries do not.

Never had it either in Alabama. Never seen in person ever. Although I can settle for some Narwhal, even though never had sn stout. Narwhal gives me my stout fix.

I see it at random places in the state from time to time. Ask a local bottle or grocery store if they'd be willing to stock some for you. I enjoy it to and will take my own advice soon.

Do you ask your local retailers who carry the rest of the Sierra Nevada line why they don't carry it? A distributor is not going to stock a beer in a store unless the retailer orders it. And if a beer has previously been a poor seller for a retailer they are not going to order it unless they know there's a demand. Most retailers will happily order a beer for a customer who is willing to buy it in a sensible quantity (i.e., not a single in a "mix six").

All that, of course, is also dependent on the local SN distributor carrying their Stout - not every distributor stocks every beer in a brewer's portfolio and not every brewery offers their entire line to every distant distributor. But, in this case, it seems unlikely a SN wholesaler would not carry their Stout. While many are not particularly "consumer friendly", but you could check out your local SN house's website (if they have one) or give them a call. We do make Stout year-round and it is distributed throughout all our markets, but as you mention it's not widely stocked. Ask your local to order some and they can get it. Save that, drive over to Asheville and visit us in Mills River. You can get a case for a good price and have it stocked at your leisure.

I, too, will have to make that trip to Mills River. The only place I've been able to find it around here is at Total Wine and, sadly, it was pretty old. The Stout is my favorite of the SN lineup and I have asked some other places why they don't carry it. Th only one that gave me a real answer was that it didn't sell well. I'm hoping that with your presence in the state we will begin to see it being more widely carried. BTW, will Mills River be putting the Stout in cans?
