A store near me is doing a tasting of a new brewery being released in the area and are only giving a riddle as to what it is. It's the north western Iowa area. Here is the riddle thanks for any help solving it.

"I find myself in two locations but my home is the place that is sitting sky high. I am the king of the jungle here- with many beers to cheer."

It sounds like Oskar Blues. They have two breweries, the original being in Colorado (sky high). A quick google makes it sound like they're supposed to be coming to Iowa early this year. Plus they have a pretty big number of brews so that fits too.

New Belgium? They are also opening a new brewery in North Carolina (or is it open now?).

New Belgium will open later this year, so for now, it is just a big construction site...but it could count...

New Belgium's Asheville NC is a big muddy construction site right now, was in the area 10 days ago.

They just pulled back from parts of Indiana to just the Indy area, due to an Indiana law that restricts volume to 30k bbl/year IIRC.

Sky high makes me think of Lagunitas. Checking Seekabrew, they don't distribute to Iowa as of yet.

I would guess Oskar Blues as well.

that's actually what would make them distribute outside of the state. can only distribute 30k within the state. i think they can brew more than that but they have to ship it out.

If it's OB, how does the king of jungle thing fit in? wouldn't that be a lion?

That is pretty interesting, but a law like that and Indiana do not surprise me. Disclaimer - spent my first 21 years in Indiana, so I know first hand.

there is a bunch of press about it now. FFF and SK are trying to get the limit raised. they both produced in the mid 20k barrel range last year.

Oskar Blues has been in Iowa for a month or so now.

King of the Jungle makes me think Lion. And sky high being Denver or Colorado.

Neither of those do much for me in the detective compartment, though. :astonished:

sounds like New Holland to me.
1, I know they posted they were expanding to the midwest
2, the make monkey king, which sort of fits king of the jungle
3, they are a Colorado brewery.

Not much is making sense, as New Holland is from Michigan and distributes in the Midwest (well part of it).
