“I've had 2 month old NN and wasn't impressed, could be it's just the beer and not the age in and by itself.”

For my palate, Nugget Nectar is best about 2 weeks after the bottling date. By two months there is noticeable hop fade so the beer does indeed taste different (more malt forward) at that timeframe.

I should caveat that I store my Nugget Nectar in my basement so it is not continuously stored cold (it is stored cool).

It very well may be that you don’t like Nugget Nectar?

It will also be interesting this year to see how well Nugget Nectar holds up in the cans (since cans are oxygen impermeable).

In my opinion, Heady Topper is a ‘unique’ hoppy beer in that The Alchemist has the OUTSTANDING ability to minimize dissolved oxygen (DO) in the brewery and their choice of using cans also helps in the oxygen exposure equation. Between the brewing process control and the cans, Heady Topper is indeed in a class of its own from a DO perspective which is very, very important when it comes to hoppy beers!!

    Cheers!

Since we want to keep this beer as fresh as possible, Nugget Nectar will have a staggered release by region starting with Central Pennsylvania beginning January 12. We only started packaging on December 29, and are rolling out as fast as we package. Barring weather disruptions it will be in all markets by the first full week in February.

If you are not excited about the arrival of NN, you just aren't a beer geek. You may not like this beer because it isn't some cherry barrel-aged, Gose, Kriek, Imperial whatever, but this is one fine beer hand crafted in central PA! It commands respect! Enjoy it on tap, from a bottle, or from a can super-duper fresh. Cheers!

I believe we got it in SE Virginia within a week or so of canning last year. I'm stoked - this is one of my all-time favorites.

EDIT: "bottling" - sorry, getting ahead a little

For the 3rd week in a row i went to my local bottle shop looking for some nectar and they have told me next tuesday every time. Today was no different.

People who are against calling ahead and asking if they have a certain beer in stock. This is exactly why i do it.

This is an upgrade. Hoppy beers just taste better in cans.

Got some today (finally!) I'm hoping my May date means it was projected 4 months out...

From someone I know that works there, NN "best by date" is 4 months after can/bottle date, so your hopes have been answered.

I bought cans at 3 days old and admittedly didn't get around to drinking my first until tonight (at 12 days old) and yes, definitely drinking incredibly well

I of course can't attest to all stores, but I've seen the 6- and 4-packs next to each other at a couple different places at roughly the same price per ounce.

Northern NJ just got their distro. I paid 9.99 a 4 pack but I saw for a bit more in some places. Since its a favorite beer I need to get both bottles and cans for a proper assessment.
