I'll echo the butter bomb sentiments above as well. I've only bought two bottles, but they were both very "I can't believe it's not butter."

They can at least stamp the case with an Office Depot rubber date stamper. Like Community used to do.

    Diacetyl shouldn't be a freshness thing. If there's diacetyl, then it's a fermentation/process thing.
Unless the beers have brett or something that would clean them up over time, in which case, older would be better.

I will say I've only had fantastic tasting Yellow Rose, though.

This is the first time I've seen any diacetyl talk about YR, guess I've been getting lucky.

Just from a QC standpoint you would think the brewery would like to be able to keep track of which bottles are from which batch should there be an issue with some of them

@TTUJohn I don't recall which thread it was in, but I read about it here first. Was a little disappointed when I got a couple of "off" bottles.

Makes me wonder if Lone Pint is even aware of it?

Whether it was freshness, bottling issues, or poorly brewed batches, there was definitely alot of inconsistency with their first few bottling batches. I have a few friends that almost swore off Yellow Rose bottles because they know how good it is on draft and how bad or "off" the bottles tasted. Same friends have been around when recent bottles have been opened and they were very pleased. Lone Pint seems to have resolved whatever issues they were having, hopefully for good.

I have only scored one bottle through a friend and it was not memorable. Felt like it was a bit old. The draft stuff I have been drinking around town has been great though. So put me in the group who wishes they would date their bottles.

which for 95% of the time, means absolutely jack shit for the customer who is buying off a shelf.

They could almost as easily stamp all the labels before sticking them to bottles.

The few bottles I've bought have been a mixed bag fresh, and none of them taste as good as it can be on draught. I don't think it's always a matter of freshness. I stored a bottle on my kitchen counter for about a month before refrigerating and drinking and oddly enough that one was good. I still for the most part don't trust the bottles though. I feel more comfortable sampling on draught and filling a growler.

I'm still finding bad draft every once in a while...but yeah, been limiting my YR intake because of the inconsistencies so can't really say its been often.

Guess I'm lucky in Dallas to basically only have access to Growler fills.

Yes! After reading everyone's posts about how it is so much better on draft, I'd love to try it.

I've had YR on draught and bottles, and it has always had diacetyl. I'm glad I'm not insane. That said, if it's improved in the last few months maybe I should re-try it this Spring.

Agreed and plausible, though I know plenty nerds who won't buy undated bottles.
    Yup.
Which is completely irrelevant because the above three aren't YR.

I've only had YR on tap but I've never had a bad glass, no diacetyl. That being said it seems like they have a lot of consistency issues, either that or the retailers are not taking proper care of their beer. I've still never had a straight answer as whether or not they bottle condition, but seriously if this beer falls off as badly and as quickly as people make it out to be then LP needs to address their brewing practices because that shouldn't be happening with proper care. Keep the O2 out and keep it cold, it will last a lot longer.

I had a glass at Boondoggles about a month ago that came out looking as clear as my wife's BL. I literally said to the waitress "that's not what I ordered", and it turned out it was a keg that was just tapped minutes prior to my order and was the best iv ever had it. I had a glass tonight at the same place and it was cloudy and not nearly as good as the last time, looked close the the picture a few posts above. I have no idea if this is because of consistency issues or age

I too have noticed this. The cloudy ones taste really good to me, but the closer it is to Coors Light color the more I like it
