I wouldn't count on that being GB. She is known for sending growlers of less than optimal quality and trying to pass them off as good stuff.

Also more turmoil over beer names and labels in CT....

    http://www.courant.com/opinion/lett...spect-what-about-nurses-2015-01-28-story.html

"The recent controversy over beer names [Jan. 24, Business, "Gandhi-Bot To Get Reboot"] got me thinking about City Steam's most popular beer, "The Naughty Nurse." As a registered nurse, I am stung each time I hear or read that name.

My profession suffers from sterotypical images promulgated by television and movies. One is the mean battle-axe intent on doing harm; the other is an angel, an inhuman, perfect fantasy.

The reality is that nurses are educated, smart, hardworking people who have made the courageous decision to choose and persist in a caring profession. All of us from birth to the end will be cared for by nurses.

I challenge the folks at City Steam to hold a contest to choose a different name for their beer. "The Trashy Teacher?" No, that won't work. "The Lusty Lawyer"? No, that won't work either.

Truth be told, that half-dressed, powder-puff, cartoon image clutching a glass of beer has nothing whatsoever to do with my profession. I think City Steam has co-opted nursing and I do not think the name was chosen to honor nurses. If your daughter or son chose nursing as a profession, would you want to promote that image? I think not. It's past time to drop the archaic and insulting name."

So @Mikexw and I have been working on a Locals directory and need some input. They was some brief discussion on it a week or two back, but nothing major.

We've put together a spreadsheet (Google Doc) which lists the people in this thread and other pertinent info. The spreadsheet will only list BA Name, state, and untappd name (pretty much the info that can be seen publicly here). There will be blank cells in the columns of email, phone #, and real name. There will also be a column for "beers I have easy access to" and "Permalinks". We will leave it up to each individual person to add and be as detailed as they like. When we get noobs, they can just add themselves to the roster.

A second tab will have a matrix of previous rounds sender pairs.

    Thoughts?

Would the consensus be to have the link posted here, or invite each person through a group BM to the private link?

So what in the heck is the back story to this running joke? I tried to look it up but since @Littlelotte88 s profile is private I can't go back through all her posts to find it

I think this is the much better idea, although it might get unwieldy as the group gets larger and larger. On the other hand, you might end up with a lot of people in the spreadsheet who participate once and then leave or intend to participate and never do which might cause problems with editing the spreadsheet if it contains like 500 entries.

Yeah, I read that this morning. I actually think this name is "worse" than Gandhi-Bot, and now there are SO many beer names people could complain about -- off the top of my head, all the Stone and Founders "Bastard" beers, Sexual Chocolate, Bitches Brew, any of the Evil Twin "Jesus" beers... or pregnant women could complain about Keegan Ales Mothers Milk or Joe Mama's Milk... this is so dumb...

I think someone needs to FHRitP.......

edit: 'Him' in this case being the nurse. Also, my wife is a nurse, so my opinion is not without any personal connection to the issue.

I'm actually fine with being responsible for updating the primary info; part of that is it will save a lot of time and effort by people who run future rounds. And I'm terrified that somebody will fatfinger and delete other people's info.

My thoughts are to password protect it, invite through BM link and put the PW in the BM. Then we can include addresses, cell numbers, and email addresses, without it being public. The difficulty in ninja'ing people would be much lower with this. I'll check on the SWTFYW directory and get back to you with any extra columns you might want to add.

Also, rather than a a matrix of previous rounds, maybe just list each person once and then in the columns by their name just list the people that have sent to them and a date (just the month, so you can use shipping windows rather than track each individual date). That way you can include LIFs and ninjas as well.

I've never done it, but in Google Sheets I think permissions can be set up to only allow a person the ability to edit only a specific cell range. Anyone else have that experience?

Wut!? I don't find this offensive but I tend to have thick skin and don't offend easily. I showed this to my wife, who is an RN, and she thought it was the dumbest thing in the world so it's not just me.

If it was an Excel doc maybe, but Google Docs is too foreign to me. I think that would be a lot of work to try and lock each cell and only allow that person to edit it. I think it may be easier to just back up the file some how in case someone does trash it accidentally. Just my $.02
