I think mostly, they seem to have a good marketing department and interesting artwork/beer names that catch the eye of the general public. They're usually moderately priced and have had a multitude of their beers pop up into many beer stores I've been to.

I havent had DuClaw yet! That pricing is good though.

ISO, can someone link me up with a bottle of Devils Due or Helll on Wood? Very interested in trying DuClaw.<3

I actually like their sweet baby Jesus. I'm not gonna drink more than one in a row, but for a 1 and done its good. As far as the IPAs, I swear i had a good one once but i couldn't really remember which one it was. So i started buying venom, hell raiser, and one other, and none of them were good. I'm not sure if they were old or just too malty or the brewery is inconsistent but I kind of gave up on them.

They just made it up and thought it sounded cool, so i've been told.

Personally i like the dogs back toe thing you came up with so that's what i'm telling people from now on

Jeezuz Raucey i didn't know there was such thing as a Dewclaw!? i guess i knew there was such a thing i just didn't realize it had a name. I've embarrassed myself on the internet again.

    Word of the weekend=dewclaw.

Haha - the dewclaw is one of those things in life that I absolutely and irrationally abhor. Hence my immediate aversion to the name. I'd love to know the brewery's explanation on the name.

Ya i feel you, i can't say i'm really thirsty for a glass of sweet baby jesus after spending the last ten minutes looking at pictures of dewclaws and double dewclaws.

In the past, before i knew what a dewclaw was, i had really enjoyed their Hell on Wood and GuiltFilthy Soul. I thought Neon Gypsy was a fine IPA too.

Thanks for dropping some knowledge on me, i owe you a Duclaw.

I'm not a fan of their beers, except one Dirty Little Freak. It's a solid beer for the price. I am more of a fan of their crosstown rival Heavy Seas.

I literally made this statement this afternoon. Was at my local beer store and told the guy DuClaw was on the verge of exploding. Just wait, BAers, just wait.

I miss DuClaw! I used to live in Bel Air, MD where their original location was. I haven't had them for years, but I'm glad to see them building steam. I'll have to wait until I visit Mom to try them again. But, I have CCB to keep me company for now.

Maybe their beer used to taste better when they were brewing on a smaller scale, but I've honestly never had a DuClaw beer that was even above average. They seem to follow the Sam Adams/Flying Dog model of pumping out about 83 seasonal releases a year on top of their 47 year-round offerings. Maybe I just suck at tasting beer but everything I've had from them tastes either diluted or off in some other way, like they can't brew a "normal" style of beer ("Craft Be Cherished, Rules Be Damned," right?). Serum tasted like a scotch ale mixed with Robitussin and Devil's Milk tastes like a crappy double IPA that's been aged on an Ecuadorian counter top for 6 months. I briefly liked Sweet Baby Jesus but couldn't even get through a whole six pack because it tastes so artificial. Before they started bottle dating, I used to chalk it up to the beers maybe not being fresh, but unfortunately I've come to see that I really don't like their beer even if it is fresh. Maybe I am just a hater, but in actuality I really just want them to blow me away with something.
