I just purchased a sixer of Brew Free or Die IPA. Never tried this beer, so I'm giving it shot. On the box it has a "best by 3/16/15 date". I also purchased a 750ml bottle of Don de Dieu. On the bottle it as a "best by 2/16" date. My question is ...when were these beers brewed without giving a true freshness date as far as the beer being bottled?

I think many brewers are very optimistic about their best by dates. Too many fail to account for what happens to the beer after it leaves the brewery. There is a world of difference between spending August sitting in an un-air conditioned warehouse or storeroom instead of in a cooler for the aging of a beer.

Buy from your local craft breweries (if you have one) and you won't have to worry about freshness

    Precisely.
All too often, they suck mightily.
