I've seen these newly labeled growlers for sale all over the place the last few weeks. I'm torn, as while I really like that they have kicked up their branding, I'm bummed at the same time as it seems they are dedicated to continuing with this format for their packaged beer for the foreseeable future.

What are others thoughts? Do you think Confluence are sticking with packaging in mini growler format for the long haul? I spoke with Mark (taproom manager) a while back and he said canning was still happening, but said it was a ways off. I hope they do can at some point!

One thing I am reassured by is in the blog post below, they do say that these will keep for "months upon months", which has always been my reservation in buying these growlers off local shelves, as I don't know about freshness. I also wish they dated these.

Do you remember the first time you saw our 32oz growlers on the shelf? Most likely they caught your attention because they looked different or perhaps you already knew who we were. Either way you most likely had to investigate a little closer to see what style of beer was contained in that interesting flask that may have reminded you of a medicine or gin bottle. The generic bottles with the tiny stickers will now only be reserved for our special small batch releases. So without further ado, allow us to introduce you to our newly designed and branded 32oz growlers!

Don’t be alarmed if you still see some of the old growlers on the shelf. We promise you the same quality of product is in every bottle, both new label and old. Our growler filling process is the same as most every other bottle of beer on the market so the quality will not waiver for months upon months (depending on the style.)

Thanks for your continuing support and consumption of our product. We pour not only quality, but love for our craft, and customers into every pint of Confluence Brewing Co. beer.

    -Sincerely,
The Confluence Brewing Company Family. Cheers!

I've heard they're planning on cans for next year. I have still never bought one of these, though I've certainly filled my share of Boston Round growlers at the brewery.

I've bought two off shelves in the past. Those were to take when visiting my brother in Milwaukee and not having time to stop by the brewery to fill my own growler. It's probably been over a year since I've purchased one though. At $9.99, they are steep too. They must sell a crap load of these though, if they are sticking with the format. And I'm sure the price they pay to have custom growler labels made is well worth it, as they probably make a good profit off each of these sold.

I like the labels but I already have 2 or 3 of their growlers and it's just not practical for me to keep buying them. I do keep meaning to stop at the brewery and get them filled but never do. I'd buy way more of their packaged beer if it came in something more practical like a bomber or cans/bottles.

That's part of it for me too. What am I supposed to do with all of those empty howlers? I guess recycle them. Do they have a deposit refund on them?

They fill them on their two head canning filler so they are essentially filled the same way cans would be, and probably even a bit better since the neck of the growler is smaller. They should keep as well as most folks bottles will. I wouldn't have any reservations about freshness!

I bought one of the rounds of Fresh Hop Mosaic a few months back (delicious), and while I'm tempted by the others every time I see them at the Council Bluffs Hy Vee, I've never pulled the trigger. Living in Omaha, I don't have much opportunity to get them refilled, and I don't have the space to keep a bunch (more than I already have) of growlers/rounds around that I can't really use (thanks to good ol' Nebraska's silly growler laws). Will buy those cans when they show up for sure, though.
