Anyone in here ever go to Upland for the bottle lottery? My old proxy has moved on to bigger and better places and thus I am without my usual Upland bottles and haven't entered the lottery for these reasons.

 

@Kylo76 which location did you select? I usually put in and can help you out. Bloomington is about 2 hours from my house and Indianapolis 1.5 hours.

I didn't put in either yet, was going to see if anyone could help me out first. I have always done Bloomington but can do either really. If you are putting in let me know which would work better for you @UcDru , I'd really appreciate it!

I thought they were no longer doing lotteries and were just going to sell these FCFS. My friends live about 10 minutes from the Indy taproom and have proxied for me and friends several times if you ever need help.

 

Yeah they have another lottery that ends in a couple hours actually

Very random question, did anyone in here send me a box that they wrote my name and address on the top of it in white? Some time within the last 2 months I received this box, emptied it and put it in the garage for storage, only to pull it out this week to reuse and found a (very cold) BCBS in it!

 

All of @treznor's points are valid and I don't have a ton to add. Blue Tusk is a really good beer bar (especially for up there). Faegan's is where I spent 4 years of my life. (Bonus: If you head to the restroom, read the plaques and try to find my name for completing Beers Around the World.) I haven't been there yet, but there is a new brewery called Double Barrel Brewing, which I've heard pretty good things about.

However, when in Rome, do as the Uticans do and check out Marcy Beverage (in Marcy, NY). Pretty solid beer store, and you can often find some hidden gems there including an occasional Rushing Duck bomber. Nothing else in Utica is worth anything, it is not a nice place.

Another brewery is in Hamilton, NY (probably about an hour south of Rome) where Colgate University is is called Good Nature Brewing. They sell their stuff throughout the area so you might be able to find it around. Some of their beers were really good.

Awesome! Don't even know why I registered. I have a bottle of each of those and don't need more beer right now. But it is always fun to win a lottery.

 

A bottleshop owner near me has a proxy for the Indy location. I've never used him (or entered the lottery for that matter), and the shop owner said that sometimes it takes a while for the proxy to get the bottles to IL, but he is solid. If you win and can't find a proxy, I may be able to help...
