How about it craft breweries? How about a 40 oz. bomber?
Or is there one out there already? I haven't seen one yet.
22's are nice, but are less than 2 beers worth. How about
a 40 like Ballantine or Olde English 800? Maybe a different
bottle design though. Especially Lags or Stone or Bear
Republic or some other brewery who offer 22's at a good
price already. Why not make a 40 for just a few dollars more.
I'd gladly buy some. How about you?

22oz is fine by me, it's the prices I have a problem with.

Who wanted to buy a 40oz of FFF when it'd probably cost $30?

Also, 22oz is good because it's doable on a work night if I want a drink. I certainly wouldn't be down for a 40 of some double IPA or Imperial Stout. Maybe in my younger days, but certainly not these days!

This post would be better if DFH re-issued this brew.

I actually prefer the 750, which is 25.4 oz. But, really, who needs more than that for an Imperial stout? Mind you, I don't split bombers, so habits do matter.

It is kind of a BS way to charge more. A lot of bombers from Clown Shoes or Right Brain are around $8.00. That is basically charging over $4.00 a beer. And they are beers that aren't anything special, sessionable porters or IPAs...If they were 12 ounces...they couldn't get away with selling them for more than $2.19

I mean, it works, because those cats get me every time, but damn....

agreed. I voted that I used to buy them but not anymore. As 1eyed said, though, It's not the size that's the problem, it's the price. A $9 bomber is a $27 6-pack in my brain and that just doesn't work. I'd pay it if I knew it were uber-fresh....and I'm not talking "Enjoy By" fresh, I'm talking "drive up to Tree House and get my 750 filled for $8-$10 with beer Nate decided that morning was ready " fresh

I'm right there with you on 750's. I'm still kinda sad CCB switched to 22oz bombers.

It's tough, I really like Pipeworks in Chicago but they ONLY sell in bombers and they are all $10-$12 a pop. I've had some of their beers that I love and I've had some that I hate, and it's an expensive gamble! I wish I could just get a mixed a 6-pack of their stuff to just try it out without committing to a bomber. I think they are starting to do 6-packs soon though, but if you check out Pipeworks beers that are current, they have 129 listed on here haha. There's always at least 10 different options of Pipeworks at local liquor stores. It is overwhelming and now I went off on a long tangent!

As with most people here I have no problems with the actual format of a bomber but the price. All bombers (yes even those ones considered values) are more expensive on a per ounce basis than six packs or four packs. These days there is so much great beer available that I avoid almost any type of bomber as there is usually a six or four pack option that is equally as good for less except for special cases such as barrel aged beers and the like.

They are going to do 4 packs of 16oz cans. Chatted to a rep not long ago in a store, supposed to be in April I think? they are starting with Ninja vs Unicorn and going from there, so the specialty one off things are probably always going to stay in bombers... :slight_frown:

If people are bitching about Lagunitas Sucks being available in the 32 oz format for south of $8. There will hell fire when it comes to 40's of 3 Floyds Permanent Funeral, etc.

Nice, I like the cans idea. There's just so much of theirs I want to try but I just can't afford to keep buying the bombers ha. I'm actually not a fan at all of the abduction series, but I do love the Citra and Mosaic ninjas and the guavanatrix was quite good as well!

lol a 40 would be great but you already have those lightweights that complain that they can't finish 32oz of beer in one sitting. So you would have 900 more threads hating 40oz bottles.
