@GRBrew Appreciate this thread. Headed to C-Bus this Fri-Sun with a bunch of fellow beer geeks from Milwaukee. Sorry in advance if we annoy your wife as we could get fairly loud:wink: If you see eight or so 30-something dudes acting out in any of the beer centric places, come over and say hello:grinning: Seriously.

Hoof Hearted did a one-off Mexican Chocolate version of their Mom Jeans Double Milk Stout for the High Gravity Hullabaloo, which just so happens to be going on the 7th.

    Full details about it here:

As for what's good, well, there's lots of good beer in Columbus. Bodhi is a requirement for anyone from out of town, IMO. If you see the Hoof Hearted Permafrost, I'd recommend it too, Chipotle Coffee Porter. It's super drinkable for being almost 7%.

Weiland's, Crafted Drafts, and the Sawmill Andersons. Those 3 would be all the single bottle shopping you'd need. Weiland's is on Indianola between North Broadway and Cooke Road, the Sawmill Andersons is off of Sawmill Road on Bent Tree Blvd, and Crafted Drafts is on Hamilton Road in Gahanna in a small shopping complex right beside a BBQ place.

FYI - Barley's Brewing Co. - Ale House #1 announced on twitter that today they have (their version of) Sexual Chocolate on firkin, and Bourbon Meyer Buckeye Stout on cask.

It does have a nice ring to it as far as I'm concerned.

And for the life of me I can't figure out why a Columbus-area brewery doesn't offer a peanut butter-and-chocolate "Buckeye Candy" porter or stout year-round. Seems like a brew such as this would have a natural appeal all over Ohio, even beyond the traditional craft beer drinker.

I'm going to duck and cover for admitting this, I'm a Michigan fan, but I've got to try The Bourbon Meyer Buckeye Stout!! Haha!!

Anyone looking for some KBS or Raspberry Eisbock? I've got up to 4 bottles of 2014 KBS and 2 bottles of 2014 KRE I'd part with for something tasty that's not available in Michigan. Into all things Porters and Stouts!!

    PM me if interested!

So, I'm here and wanted to post s few thoughts. We ate lunch at Crest. I can highly recommend this place; excellent tap list and excellent food. I personally killed the keg of BB Battle Axe, too bad for you because it's fantastic! We also went to Barleys and I can say that despite the name that PB stuff is ridiculously good! Went to north high brewing which is a super cool place with some great beers. I specifically liked the coffee milk stout they had. Lastly, we are at Wolf's Ridge Brewing. Very good food, decent beers. Some better than others, but decent. The food though, is worth the trip alone. Get the pork shank; so damn good.
Hope this stuff helps anyone and I'll post after today if I can still remember anything:grinning:

Forgot one thing, Weilands down the street from Crest is s great little bottle shop that also fills growlers, including Bodhi. They have cool flip top half growlers (32 oz) for 3.99 which is though was a good price.

Well guys, I'm in Columbus and I forgot to bring my KRE and KBS. Disregard my previous post above about a possible trade. I'm sitting in a cheerleading competition at the convention center and I could use a good beer or 12....my ears hurt!! Ugh!!

To my knowledge from doing online research(and a friend who did a recent Ohio trip), yes it is available pretty much everywhere in that state. Even in the Toledo area, as well.

Crap. I was there that night and didn't get either. I asked the server what was on tap and he listed a bunch of standard stuff. What I got was good, but damn.

Thanks for all of the tips. My son got sick right after dinner at Barleys so that was the end of the night. I did drink a bunch of Fat Head, Bodhi, White Raja, Columbus, etc. I ended up bringing a case of mixed bottles back with me...and 2 cases of Yuengling. We also hit JAFB and Land Grant. Both were awesome spots.

When in need of a beer in that scenario, the best advice I could give is to BE AGGRESSIVE. B-E AGGRESSIVE!

Hope you ended up making it across the street to Barley's at some point.

I am so bummed. We got out of the competition at 8pm...Walked across the street to Barley's and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. My kids were tired and couldn't muster the energy for dear old dad. I will definitely be back....next tine without the kiddos. Columbus is a great city and the arena district is phenomenal!! Barley's seemed like a great place to have a pint or 5!

It's funny because I was there at the same time. Were you staying at the Hyatt? Lots of screaming kids there. The 2nd floor bar had a pretty nice selection of beers on tap.
