There's a difference between paying for quality and beer being overpriced. Sure it costs a lot to brew some beers but I'm not going to drop $20 on a mediocre Saison from Nebraska and I'm sure as hell not going to feel bad passing on it. The idea that I should just "spend whatever" because something is craft is absolutely ridiculous. Value is value and if it's worth it, I'll pay more.

What good (or even avg.) DIPA is under $10? I think a lot of the 750ml DFH beers are priced too high but the DFH 90 as well as other 4 and 6 packs by DFH are priced reasonably.

I think the Bells seasonal stuff is a little crazy. $8 for a 6 pk of two hearted is awesome but $16.99 for a 6 pk of hopslam??? It's not that much better! Some things I have avoided in stores even though i really like or want to try them: Tenfidy, Jolly pumpkin, mikkeller stuff, 120 minute (my local store has two 12 oz bottles on the shelf for $20/ea, go figure why they don't sell)

As much as i love it i have to say Brewdog. I think this might be the result of the importer. I have seen what our distributor pays for it and they sell kegs for close to cost and i know what I mark up for it at the bar and we don't make much. I have talked to James and while he won't give me prices he said that he wasn't making a ton of money off it. I have never met the importer but i have been told that they are manly a scotch importer and mark up Brewdog like it was scotch.

$5 bombers and $12 four packs are praised when $16 six packs are too costly, the world is a funny place.

I'd have to go with Rogue. Their prices are just ridiculous, considering so many of their beers are just "meh". I'd rather better beer than cool bottle art.

Oscar Blues, except for Dales Pale. I'd drink a lot more of their stuff if it weren't ridiculous.

Which Great Divide beer is 26$? Their six packs are normally 10 and bombers of old ruffian, yeti, anniversary and such are7-9$

$20 for a 12 oz of 120 is insane. I pass on the bottles at my store that are $10

I agree, I paid $35 for a 4 pack from the brewery, and it was the cheapest I've ever had it.

It takes a TON of raw material to make it, and takes a bunch of time and resources, to make a beer that big, so I understand it's going to cost more, so I don't hold that against DFH.

I do think that $10 for the 4 pack of 90 minute @ 9%ABV, and the $10 for the Festina Peche(which is ehhh) at what.. sub 4/5% ABV are the same price... At that point, it's not an issue about higher abv bringing the price up.

their barrel aged varieties are all ~$25

i actually think g.d. is kind of overpriced too. or maybe just kind of weirdly priced. i have no problem buying yeti variants and old ruffian for $9 or so, but the 4pks really aren't much of an added value, their 6pks are never fresh where i am and are generally some of the most expensive on shelves here. maybe it is different in other markets.

I'd say Nebraska for sure. $20+ for a 750ml?! No Way! Mikkeller, Rogue, and BrewDog also should be included.

How Rogue gets away with their price points is beyond me. At my local grocery store, Sculpin bombers are going for over 7 dollars. Seems a bit high to me.

That's about the same prices we get them at here in MN, which leads me to suspect either the store or local taxes are the blame...

Really? Old Rasputin can usually be found for around $9 a 4 pack in my area. I think that's not a bad price for 4 good beers. But now that you mention it, that's really probably the only argument I have, the rest of their lineup tends to be pricy

Weyerbacher really. A wonderful barrelled aged beer four pack for less than $13, I love that price. If people don't like the prices they don't have to purchase. At least it is easier to get a few bottles of these overpriced beers. Had to go to two different stores to score two bottles of KBS. I love Founders, but I hope they can expand so more people can get some of limited releases. Old Curmudgeon Better Half how many people scored a bottle of that, I got luck I was on the phone when the Rep brought in the two bottle limit and yes I got screwed and paid $25 because of the small limit.

Sun King. 10 bucks for a four pack of cream ale, 12 bucks for a four pack of pale ale, 15 bucks for a single 16 oz can of barley wine, 18 dollar four pack of Oktoberfest. Ounce for ounce they are more expensive than our other very noted Indiana brewery in this thread.

Except they have better menus and better food. Ann Arbor isn't really a hot bed of good restaurants (sorry if you disagree), but JP is amongst the worst. Lots of nice places to eat, nice ambiance, quality ingredients, but so many average menus and mediocre entrees all over town. Unless you love Tai food...

I was referring more to Merry Monks/Double Sim and the like, Insanity is a bargain...and the Founders thing scares me because I just started getting into their beers and while I can get the normal line shipped here, it does break my heart a little that if I drove to DC on the day KBS gets into stores that I'd likely not get more than a bottle or two and grossly overpay for it.
