Agreed...I thought '14 was a pure cinnamon bomb and was very thin compared to 2013...our tasting group unanimously preferred 2013 when done side by side.

Agree 100%, but I cant really compare one to another as they aren't really even the same style.

I have been lucky enough to find all the '14 variants on draft 3-4 times so far this year so I traded away my two remaining '14s for sours. The Vanilla rye is hands down winner this year IMO

Why does vanilla rye trade so high when it was nationally distributed? I don't recall backyard commanding such a premium

I suspect because it's delicious, you can assume that it will age relatively well based on GI's reputation, and it was still damn hard to get more than 1 of no matter where you live because it was in such high demand. I actually think it wouldn't command nearly the premium it does if it WASN'T distributed nationally. If they only distributed in the midwest for example I'd imagine limits would have been much higher or it would have been possible to hit a few different stores to pick up multiple bottles in which case you'd be much more likely to part with 1 via trade...

You could have posted this in the ISO thread and I would have not been upset it's constructive criticism.I actually see your point on this except for the third-tier part all the bottles I offered were in my opinion at least top second-tier. I was able to get this done but it took 2 different trades : 1 Vanilla Rye, they also threw in a 14' BCBCS and a Hopslam FOR : Huna, MBCP, Dark Arts, Event Horizon, Lindley Park, NoDa Coco Loco. SECOND Trade was for 1 Vanilla + 1 Prop they also threw in NG Road Slush Stout and Spotted Cow a BBP5 cooper wax FOR: CCB Leon,CCB Da Un Beso, Dark Arts, Event Horizon, MBCP, Lindley Park.

Interesting theory. I also think the fact that the people waiting in line who didn't get one now really want it. If there was none for them in the first place they wouldn't have the desire to seek it out so bad.

If anyone has any extra vanilla I would definitely make it worth your while to trade with some CCB and or funky Buddha. Would like to get multiples but willing to offer up limited release beers to land some. Cheers!

I've never had and am looking for prop, v rye, and coffee(I've had this).. This is not a ISO:FT post, inknow what forum to post that in, but I'm looking to do a big bourbon county tasting with some friends and was wondering would an offer of ADWTD + perennial abraxas + beer geek speedway + perennial sump+ trillium PM dawn+ 5 bottles of Troegs nugget nectar be able to net either 1 2013 or 2014 prop, 1 vanilla rye, maybe 2-3 coffee? And maybe like a sixer of the 5.9% NYFRB? Let me know what you guys think, whether this would be a solid offer or if I'm still off..

    Thanks!

I've traded a Prop '14 for a Fou Foune. Traded a Vanilla Rye for a Lou Pepe: Gueuze (as part of a bigger trade).

I have also acquired a Prop '14 as part of a large package for a BVDL '12 (BVDL for a Nuthulu, Prop '14, Darkness '14, Westy '12 and a JK Nocturn Chrysalis).
