Also, I'd include Vienna lagers as ambers even though the brewing process is very specific for Viennas. Great Lakes Eliot Ness is the very best Vienna lager I've had and worth a try.

Give Troëgs Hopback Amber a try. It will be a bit more hop forward(hence the name) but deliciously smooth!

Sam Adams Boston Lager and Brooklyn Lager are classic examples and still tasty beers.
AC Golden's Colorado Native is similar, but a bit hoppier.
It's old school, but I still like Ornery Amber from Tommyknocker, too.

Love the beer, but an amber ale is a completely different beast than an amber lager.

Brooklyn Lager is the only amber lager that comes to mind.

Boston Lager is a given. A more obscure pick would be Full Sail Brewing's LTD series Amber Lager. The whole LTD (limited edition lager) series was pretty damn solid across the board, and included a German Pils, Marzen, Euro Dark Lager, and Maibock among others. I really wish it wasn't limited. I'm sure they'll brew more of it in the future but it looks like it's done for now.

Also, while I generally avoid Inbev products on principle, I'm not opposed to an occasional Negra Modelo while at a restaurant - it's a pretty solid beer.

In my distro, there is an unfortunate lack of good amber lagers, including most of what people in this thread have already named: Troegs, Brooklyn, Great Lakes, and Yuengling.

Fat Tire's technically an ale - but it has a malty richness that would probably appeal to amber lager fans, too. It was inspired by Palm and De Koninck, so you'd probably enjoy those as well. Palm especially - it's yeast is very muted and it tastes lager-like to me.

Not a huge stretch to recommend dark lagers, too. Those can range from German dunkels and Czech tmave pivo to American bocks and Mexican dark lagers.
