The distro might just be waiting for their next drop from Weyerbacher. If you follow the beer on Beermenus.com I update my store often and you'll get an email when it drops. I'll get it the same time as you guys

I'm just south in Ithaca, and it seems we're always at least 2 weeks behind everyone else as far as stuff hitting the shelves. I'm guessing it's the same for you in Auburn.

It all depends really. Sometimes I'll get stuff before the Rochester area, sometimes after. If I do get stuff after it's no longer than a day or two

I appreciate the responses, just glad i didnt miss the release. I remember from last year it doesnt exactly fly off shelves, but it doesnt necessarily hang around too long either.

No problem. The Rochester beer market is getting crazier by the second. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes really quick this year. A fair portion of my sales comes from the Rochester area and I'm an hour drive away.

Tell me about it, i grow more and more frustrated by the week it seems. If i want to have a chance to get a beer like Sucaba, i literally have to get to the stores within an hour that they get it. Like, what am i supposed to leave work during the day?

It just seems like if you have a day job, you dont stand a chance for some stuff.

I completely agree with you. I think the problem is that most stores dont stay open past 8-9pm, and if they wait until say 6pm to release these beers so everyone who works has a chance, they might not sell out as quick as possible. In fact, they might have to wait an extra day (Oh the horror!!). Not selling out ASAP is a great thing for us who have a job, but for the person who owns a store who's job it is to sell out ASAP, they obviously arent too concerned about us because they know people will buy it up early in the day.

I wish I could say it was just a few bad apples but the infamous Rochester FB group has turned the whole city into a bunch of novice truck chasers that all seem to want to keep up with the Joneses and outdo each other by buying cases at a time of "rare" beer and sharing their finds. I'm okay with social media but its a blessing and a curse.

The sad thing is, aside from just a few things like KBS, BC and the limited FW releases, there should theoretically be plenty of everything to go around. It's insane to me that things like Grapefruit Sculpin or BA Narwhal went as fast as they did here compared to Syracuse.

BTW I visited your shop a couple weeks ago from out of town, very nice setup.

Thank You. The Rochester beer market is much more intense than the Syracuse market for sure. I think the FCBaa is great, but like all beer groups it will lead to some type of coveting. This even happens with Beer Advocate. While it's getting harder to find limited releases the FCBaa is a great source of knowledge and sharing for the beer community. Without this group, I would probably have a hard time keeping the doors open. There will be always be a few assholes who will fill their mother's basement with limited releases only to brag and not accept any offers on bottle share sites. I wish this would stop but it will only get worse. The better beer stores are doing their best to try to remedy some issues though. Like AJs, who will do a release in the morning and later in the day for our friends with 9-5 jobs. It's getting harder and harder because the beer market is growing tremensely and everybody is getting intel on to what is showing up and when. It's funny that only last year BCBS was a shelf turd in Auburn and this year I'm lucky if limited releases last more than a couple hours.

Nice! Hoping i can scoop up a 4pk on friday

Its nice to hear other people share the same frustration. I dont hate on the stores or these groups for making it difficult to get coveted beers, i just hope the supply picks up cuz i dont think the demand is going down. At the end of the day, if im sipping on an insanity or bigfoot, its a fantastic barleywine....even if its not a Sucaba.
