I love the ruthless rye. Hopefully, this will be even better.

I was looking for a replacement for Red's Rye, now that bottles of it are a thing of the past. I wonder how they will compare.

Ruthless Rye is not the Q1 seasonal any longer, replaced by Hoppy Lager. It's not available in six packs this year, only in the 4-Way IPA mix pack.

I went to a Founders event on Saturday where they tapped CBS (of which I had three glasses) that also featured a bunch of other Founders drafts yet no Reds Rye. I was disappointed. Haven't had RR in over a year! Need some of that in my life. It was my most purchased beer when it was available in sixers.

Will definitely give this one a shot.

Here are some of the offerings on tap when I was at Founders (the same day as you):

    • Multiple years of KBS
    • Multiple years of Backwoods Bastard
    • Sweet Repute XXX
    • BA Cran
    • CBS
And you are complaining Red's Rye wasn't on tap...

Sadly, this won't be a national release. It will only be available in the Pacific Northwest and the two breweries.

Good for you? I was at a differerent place (a local bar, not Founders itself) and the only "special" beer was CBS. You should read more carefully.

    Hi sierranevadabill,
Thanks for all the good information as always. Given the limited availability of this release, I feel quite grateful to live in Asheville near the Mills River brewery. If you get the chance, would you please let us know if it'll be available in cans in the Mills River gift shop and, if so, when?

    Thanks!!

Yeah, my reading comprehension sucks. I thought you were also at Founders and whining when they've had the best taps in years. My bad.

I really did not know that this would have a limited distribution. It's been on shelves around Seattle for 3wks or so now. It is a good beer, it's not nearly as hoppy/piney as Ruthless though, it's got a much more pronounced and rich rye body and spice, as well as a little sweetness.
