I haven't had one aged before (have 2 2014 in the cellar...patiently waiting), but I definitely notice the hops when this is fresh. It's also listed as an American Barleywine.

We don't receive distro of CW in NJ to my knowledge. You need to go to NY for their stuff. Happy hunting.

this is a really helpful website - not always up to date, but it is pretty good:

    http://www.seekabrew.com/distro/index.html

Central Waters doesn't have distro on their website, but apparently Pennsylvania gets some. I would call around first though - their barrel aged releases are getting more limited and hard to find outside of Wisconsin.

That's because it is an American Barleywine. Central Waters greatest attribute is their price. They are a decent intro to BA beers without dropping $20-30 on a 4 pack.

Whats funny is that the description on the bottle says American Barleywine, which in theory should be a hop bomb, but it clearly does't taste like a hop bomb, to me anyway. I really don't care for american barleywines, I prefer the english ones like blithering idiot. Perhaps the barrel aging kills the hoppiness? I dunno, but I love this beer. It is my all time favorite hands down. Which is why I try to get 10 cases a year.

Oh please. Get over it man. Like there isn't 10 other stores around here that have it. Its not like im in a limited market where you may be at. I am local (within 25 miles of Amherst) and the stores around here get more then 1 allocation. I could have gotten my cases at any number of stores. I simply picked the best deal I could get at one. I save up all year for this beer and I make sure I can get mine. Just cause you can't get 10 cases don't be jealous and don't hate on me buddie.

Nice! I am from Chicago, had to drive up to WI, and had no trouble getting the 3 4-packs I wanted. If you live within 25 miles of the brewery, like you said, this isn't a limited beer - there will be lots of it around and you could always pick it up directly at the brewery too (I imagine they would let you take a case!)

I actually like the way a few WI breweries do their limited releases (there is tons available locally). New Glarus does the same. To the locals go the spoils!

Nice! Did you go to the ol' Kenosha Woodmans? Or did you have to go off the beaten path? I plan on driving up this week (not only to stock up on NG and CW, but also to stock up on hard-to-find grocery items).
