The guy from Night Shift explained why the ABV doesn't factor into the cost so much. So maybe Green Diamonds won't be much more.

@Kanger put it in perspective. I myself paid the money for a growler of Superfun and a four pack is the same price and volume? I'll take one. Hopefully guys don't bring there wives/girlfriends/whatevers so they can get double the limit and some is left on Thursday night.

Yeah I'm personally only grabbing 3 4packs. Two for me and one for a friend.

My guess is 4 pack of Green Diamonds will be $18.

I'm with you on the pricing. This is an NYC-based brewery with NYC overheads, so comparisons to cans from NJ or VT aren't really apples to apples. Like you say, same cost as a growler is fine with me - they're not charging the customer anything to cover their extra cost to can the beer.

I understand NYC overheads are high but comparisons to other areas are valid IMO since breweries are competing with other breweries for our beer $$$$. If a growler of GD is $24, are people going to be ok paying that for a 4 pack also? When they can buy 2 - 4 packs of 077XX or another great DIPA that is half the price? Rents and overheads are high in CA also but even the small breweries there find a way to keep prices competitive.
I remember when Peekskill was all the talk in the Mid Atlantic forums at one time until everyone found out they were charging $28-$32 for growler fills of IPA's/DIPA's. Can't remember the last time i saw Peekskill mentioned here. Hopefully OH doesn't make that mistake as they make some great beers but only their hardcore fans will continue to pay ridiculous prices.

Anyone mind asking them how many cases they are selling? Curious what their canning runs will produce.

Not verified but I'm hearing in line 350 cases...

This is insanity! People waiting in line for a pretty good 4% ABV pale ale???? God help us if this is what craft beer world is coming to.

I hope they sell every last can and rake in the $$, but this pretty crazy.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying (though I don't think comparisons to heady are valid). But for me, all things considered (first time, limited run of a beer that's relatively reasonably priced for growler fill), I just don't see the big deal. If they start regularly canning GD for $24 / 4-pack, then I would not be purchasing that regularly either.

Thanks. Let us know what OH says anything about output. If 350 cases, I imagine they will be selling for awhile.

Yeah - I couldn't make it in early. Possibly be there in the later part of the afternoon, so hopefully there'll be cans left.

Is there still a line or can I stand inside the taproom and enjoy myself a beer?

The line is just to get inside so you can't just come in for the taproom. You place your order in the taproom and then go in back for your 4 packs.

    People still in line??

They should try to separate the people in line so those who just want to go in for a beer and not buy cans can do so.
