As for breweries, Two Beers, Holy Mountain, Airways, Epic Ales and Black Raven don't allow kids. Every other brewery in the Seattle area does.

Other Seattle places that don't allow kids: Beer Junction, Coopers Alehouse, Bottleworks, Latona Pub, Uber, Burgundian, Sixgill, Pine Box, The Masonry, Noble Fir.

Off the top of my head and only for the areas in and around Seattle, any place currently and formerly associated with Matt Bonney will be 21+ --- that that includes Toronado Seattle, Brouwer's Cafe, Burgundian, and Bottleworks. I don't think it's that Matt doesn't like kids, it's just maybe coincidence.

The sister bars/restaurants The Noble Fir and Sixgill are 21+.

For the most part, breweries and their associated taprooms and/or brewpubs are kid-friendly --- except for Black Raven in Redmond. There are likely others but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Brewpubs/restaurants that DO allow kids: Hudson Public House, Collins Pub, Elysian Fields, Elysian Capitol Hill, Elysian Tangletown, Wurst Place, Mammoth, Elliot Bay Brewing (all locations), Maritime Pacific, Hales...

I've got a kid. I make it a point to know where I can and can't go when she's with me.

There's not a single ferret, anaconda, or miniature pig friendly taproom or brewery in Washington. Why should my pets and I be excluded?!?

This is funny. My first thought when looking at the menu was "they'll have to add fries and burgers."

Not that I think all bars should have "bar" food ... but I didn't see their menu has having any real alternative options for that "I just drank three 12% beers and I need something to soak that up" meal / snack.

Latona Pub doesn't have a fryer, and I actually don't miss it. Burger and a good salad works really well.

You will find it tougher with the kid in Portland. Pretty much the rule is....no food service means no kids allowed.

Not necessarily. Kids aren't welcome at Gigantic or The Commons, but you can take them to Upright. Figure that one out.

And many more restaurants/places that let kids in before a certain time that would definitely be 21+ 24/7 in Seattle.

Upright seems to be the exception for the non-food places. I guess their pork rinds count as food.

We took her to Cascade and HOTD ~4+ years ago (as well as Fremont), no problem from them. I also think I read that Ex Novo and Baerlic were kid-friendly...as are Pfriem, Double Mountain, and Reubens. Anybody know about Lodgson?

The old farmhouse tasting room didn't appear to be kid friendly when I was there in June. Seeing how that's no longer open to the public and they've got the new Barrel House and Tasting Room in downtown Hood River that isn't open yet, I don't think anyone knows.

I was less talking about me and more about what I think the "market" will want. I think Latona may get away with it since it's more a local hangout than a place people go for big beer events.

I think you can come up with a menu that works which doesn't have standard pub fare on it; but the original iteration of Toronado's menu wasn't that. Beef Heart tartare is unlikely to sell often at a beer focused spot.

Thanks, guys. Just realized I inadvertantly did a little thread hijack. Disappointed to find out Toronado's not an option, but glad to know that there are numerous other good ones.

How old is your daughter? Maybe they can go across the street and have some frozen yogurt while you have a beer. Or they can go to Whole Foods and hang out. There's a nice park really close to Toronado that has a little zipline.

Meh, she'll be 8. So we won't be sending her anywhere on her own. And too many other places I CAN bring them to ditch them both!

i'd be more disappointed about brouwers since they seem to have the best bottle stock, but either way, there's a ton of kid-friendly options and you'll be able to get the same beer elsewhere. the only difference will be you'll be walking through a full door instead of a half.

Thanks Steve. I agree about Brouwers.

No worries, just trying to think of some options in case there is something on tap at Toronado you're dying to try. Toronado is in my neighborhood so I know the area well.

Im not sure how Upright gets by (maybe the upstairs food stand fulfills the requirement), but yeah, no prepared food in Oregon means no minors. Fortunately, particularly in Portland, there are a plethora of minor friendly options for those with children.
