I recently had a birthday and I celebrated with a 750 mL bottle of Koningshoeven's La Trappe Tripel. Excellent beer and it happened to be my first beer that had a cage and cork.

For me it was Tree House Good Morning. I cracked that open after the Super Bowl - it took so much will power to let it sit in the fridge and save for the Super Bowl. My overall thought is that I would pick something that I couldn't have or obtain on a frequent basis, so in essence it was a treat.

I vote for Duvel in 750 ml bottles. I don't think they cork them any more, but popping the cork would be nice.

Thanks very one for all the suggestions I will definitely look some of these up and decide. Worst case scenerio is that I have a few in my collection that I have thought of too. Sucre from bruery or Brooklyn black ops. Utopia sounds like a possibility too. And I always wanted to try something from cantillon.

Thanks again everyone. Definitely have some research and thinking to do. Cheers!!

I will post when I reached the goal and what I cracked open for celebration.

When I think celebration I usually think holiday or family dinner. For this occasion I pick saisons or Belgian ales because they go well with food. Then maybe a stout with dessert because of the sweet, coffee, or chocolate flavors.

Don't you know you celebrate with champagne! Thus the champagne of beers! Of course...

Are we celebrating to get wasted, or celebrating in a more dignified manner?

I don't have a perfect celebration beer. But if I am celebrating something I usually do a cellar pull that has barrel aged stouts, barely wines, imperial stouts and old ales in it.

@SamN this would be celebrating more in a dignified manner. That's not to say with the high ABVs I will probably be half in the bag. It will be a good night either way. Just trying to do something special for all the hard work and sacrifice I am in my career.

When I want to celebrate, I grab a Tilquin.

Biere De Champagne is also another good choice...I think someone mentioned DeuS. For really special times...Mikkeller Nelson Sauvignon!

    I don't know...the beer doesn't look flat.

I don't have an ideal celebratory beer in mind, but whatever fresh 4.5+ personal rating DIPA I have on hand would fit the situation perfectly.

If the occasion is a celebration with others, I love popping a cork. Something low key? Whatever looks good at the moment.

If it's my wife and I, we always reach for a Firestone special; if it's a group of friends we typically go for a solid IPA like Lagunitas Sucks or Stone's Enjoy By. And for Christmas, it's always Anchor's Christmas!

Congrats on your upcoming celebration... When I go to my cellar to pick the perfect beer for the occasion, I usually think about which beer do I want to think about later on when explaining, "Yeah I celebrated with this beer". I usually go with a top 5 beer from the cellar so you keep trying to accomplish stuff to keep celebrating with awesome brew
