2015 Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine

A MIGHTILY MALTY, HOP-HEAVY BEER THAT REWARDS THE EAGER AND THE PATIENT

Barley wines are traditionally hefty brews, but ours is downright excessive. The huge maltiness of this beer is only tamed by an equally prodigious addition of hops, creating a rich, slightly sweet, caramel-hued ale infused with assertive bitterness and bright hop notes, all culminating in a pleasing dryness. While it will evolve into an even more glorious brew with age, this beer’s delicious onslaught of flavors will seriously challenge your ability to wait any longer to drink it.

One of my favorites, got a 5 vertical going again once this comes out. I will drink it side by side with 2011 and keep the other 4 going until next year. Will drink plenty fresh also.

Sorry guys, this is probably a dumb question but I'm still relatively new to the craft beer scene. Is this something that's going to sell out quickly enough that it's gonna be a struggle to get? I saw the glasses on the stone website for this and I want to buy one, but it's gonna a bummer if I get the glass and then miss out on the actual beer. :/

You are gonna have to reach behind all the 2014 bottles to find one though

That's seriously made me laugh. It I find a 2014 on the shelf I think I'd be pretty happy honestly. A year old bottle already aged for me.

I love free aging. I look for that first with things like Old Guardian and a few others, like Warlock.

This post was spot on. I went into the store today and I found a 2014 release sitting on the shelf still. Bottled on date was over a year ago. I was pretty happy. Gonna wait until I can get a 2015 to so I can taste it fresh first.

Frustrating that my Bevmo, which is 15min from Stone Brewery, still doesn't have this 3 days after the release date! Am I too impatient?

That's not a fair comparison. Sucaba is almost double the price of OG, and honestly not that much better imo. I usually pass on Sucaba.
