Usually they send out an FWB email about a week before the release in order for backers to reserve a bottle, but I haven't received that email yet. Not sure how they're handling it this time.

    Probably.

But yeah, the 2012 FoBAB Abduction wasn't barrel-aged in any shape or form; just cherries and oak spirals.

Pipeworks has done barrel-aged versions of Abduction Coffee Break and Toasty Nut Abduction. I'm pretty sure both of these used the 15 gallon Journeyman Ravenswood Rye barrels, which would yield 2-3 kegs of each at best.

that should be pretty good. I'm assuming it's the same base beer? I thought act one was a little sweet, but the blueberries and coffee will hopefully address that. I like to imagine these beers will end up in barrels eventually. I think there's a lot of potential there too...

February 13, 2015 Update (Beers below initially distributed to FwB members, with extra presumably to hit shelves thereafter, if any)

We are very excited to announce that we are releasing two barrel aged beers on Friday February 20th!

    The Abduction - 22oz, $15.99, 13 % ABV

For the barrel aged version of Abduction we changed our normal brewing process up a little bit. We mashed twice and only took the first runnings of each to get a more rich, viscous wort. We then boiled this wort for 4 hours to concentrate it even further and caramelize the sugars to add depth and complexity. After fermentation we aged the resulting beer in a blend of Elijah Craig 12 Year Old barrels and Four Roses Single Barrels for nine and a half months. The final product is an intensely rich, complex, flavorful beer and one of the beers we are the most proud of. (Due to the process explained above the yield for The Abduction was quite low and quantities are limited.)

    The Jones Dog - 22oz, $14.99, 13% ABV

"The Jones Dog" is back! This is the same recipe as the beer that won gold in the Strong Porter/Stout category at The Festival of Barrel Aged Beers last year. It was brewed with cacao nibs and vanilla bean then was aged in a melange of different barrels for Heaven Hill for eight and a half months.
