I would consider doing it, but I am unsure how well I would do, being realistic about myself and my proclivities, as well as my computer skills (lack thereof), and upcoming travel I plan to do.

I know I have a big mouth:slight_smile:, and with that does come responsibility to act as I speak, and will certainly consider applying for the "position" if this is what can help make a better situation here.

So I figured I would throw my opinion out there on a couple of these issues. I am a "new" trader because I have only been trading on here for about 9 months or so but I have a lot of trades completed so I can see both views here.

First of all, I think the 30 day wait is too long but I think something is necessary. I feel like a one week waiting period would be beneficial to everyone. If you haven't figured out how it works after waiting for a week you won't ever figure it out. It will also stop people from joining that day and posting stupid things without researching at all.

Second, is there any way to require mod approval for your first post in the FT:ISO forum? I know some online forums do this and I think the mods could filter out the stupid ones and give them guidance without interrupting everyone else. More work for the mods but I think any good solution here is going to be more work for them unfortunately.

And finally I wanted to comment on the replies in the FT:ISO forum. I struggle with this one myself actually. There are a lot of posts that I want to comment on to be helpful but when I type it out I feel like I am threadshitting so I don't post it. It is really difficult to even tell if someone is trying to be helpful or threadshitting a lot of the time. I think the mods should remove the obvious ones and start warning those people. It seems to be the same people over and over again who think they are smarter than everyone else. I think this can be addressed "easily" with rule changes and discipline to clean it up.

I have experience running and using online forums for a long time. Unfortunately people are going to do what they want to do unless there are consequences for their actions. Hopefully the owners can figure out a good solution here. We are all just on here to drink beer and have fun and I think that is getting lost for a lot of members.

It's already been discussed, and we tried the wait period; didn't work.
    This already occurs.
The mods do this already, but we are looking at adjusting the rules / actions for problem users.

Nice... I didn't know about the mod approval part. That wasn't the case when I first posted so I missed that one. I know you guys are working hard to clean it up and it is appreciated.

I've been searching to see if this has been discussed and can't find it exactly, but along the lines of trading etiquette, could there be a way to force a consistent format for the ISO:FT title so you don't get these titles that are all over the place? I hate constantly having the titles flip-flopped as I'm trying to scroll through what people are ISO to see if we can come to anything. Sometimes I don't know what I want to trade myself, so scrolling through and finding someone who wants something I never though of trading has been helpful. If the website had a module where you just entered your ISO in to a box, then FT in a box, figured out quantities like a lot of people have stated is helpful, it'd make things so much easier IMO.

Has been added to the rules. And we're discussing a completed trades forum.

I completely understand the "what can I get for beer x" threads, but "what does it take to get beer x" threads are incredibly helpful and will be sorely missed. Being very wrong about what it takes to get a beer is one of the major causes of threadshitting in the ISO forum. Any effort to decrease threadshitting would encourage the posting of research threads such as those. I suppose the completed trades forum being discussed would possibly take care of this though, depending on what form it takes.

I believe it's already been discussed that those two types of threads are the exact same thing only in reverse.

If you prevent someone from asking "what can I get for beer x", all they have to do is ask "what does it take to get beer x" it's the exact same question asked from a different perspective

But to me, there is a discernable difference between:
A.) Im looking for beer x, what would it take to land it from these beers a,b,c

    and

B.) I have "Whalez Bro Beer X", how much can I get for my beer?? (An auction of sorts)

But is there? If you ban someone from asking question b, they can still get the information they're looking for by asking question a and listing some big bottles that they want.

We're really arguing form.over substance here.

I think you both are right. Up to now, I think 'A' type questions have generally been genuine, and well-intentioned, whereas 'B' type questions have generally rubbed me the wrong way. However, once 'B' is banned, I agree that 'A' simply becomes a vehicle for 'B'.

If one goes, so must the other. Personally, I'm in the camp that feels the good outweighs the bad, and I'd prefer to see them both stay rather than both go; but c'est la vie.

Wow I think I just witnessed the beer trading and HELP section become less helpful for new traders.

The people spoke, and we listened; more trading, less valuating.

Yes. I've read every single post in this thread, plus the private messages that I've received. After much thought and discussion, it was deemed that changes were required for the betterment of the entire community.
