Toronado San Francisco Late August

Yep. Take someone who is a good friend with the bartender/manager. Otherwise, those have been sold out since release day.

 

If my experience is any indication, you should get in line in early August to get service in late August. Wear a metal shirt, skip the deodorant that day, and say "fuck" a lot.

 

Wear a Pablo Sandoval jersey.

 

Don't know who told you that you could buy Izzy, but that's not happening. Cable Car is going to be entirely dependent on the whims of the staff when you go there.

Really, my advise would be to go in early August for the anniversary. That's probably the only way to guarantee getting to try anything special. (That or making friends with the staff.)

 

Probably just heard that it's "available" at the Toronado SD

 

I was in there last night and was told they didn't have Cable Car available although it was on the bottle list. They didn't go into the back cooler to check so maybe he just didn't want to sell one to me, or they only sell a certain quota per day or something. No Cantillon on the bottle list last night which was also a bummer. I was wearing a suit and tie so maybe if I was wearing my normal whale conquering gear (shorts and a t shirt) it would have happened.

August at Toronado should be good for getting some T25 and having them break out some great beers during the anniversary.

 

Hit on the ugly, old, alligator-skinned lady who works there with the long black hair. She may actually serve you a beer if you give her money and make it clear that you don't expect your change until five minutes or so after you purchase your beer. This is when there is only like 10 people in the bar, so who I can't speak on the behalf of when it is busy. And WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT reorganize her the chairs. If you even think about adding a chair to your table, be ready to hear a raspy smoker's voice come from her chapped lips telling you not to reorganize her bar and that if the fire marshall were to come into their establishment, they could get a fine. I know this rant sounds bitter, but she was THE WORST. I pour beer at a beer bar as well, so I do the exact same job she does, and I have never in my life had worse service. One of the rudest people I have ever come across in the craft beer scene. I will no longer go to Toronado because of her.

 

I tried to find info on this anniversary at Toronado but can't seem to find anything. What day(s) does it occur on, start at a certain time, special tappings, etc. Any info would be appreciated. I'll be in SF from the 1st through 4th, so I'm hoping...

 

I believe you'll miss it. They haven't announced it yet, but I think it's typically 2nd or 3rd Saturday.

It is very likely to be August 11 this year based on the dates of the last few.

 

Anniversary is confirmed to be 11th via Brother Dave at Toronado. I'd imagine that whole weekend will be madness over there. Super glad I only live 7 minutes away.

 

If any of you Chicago area people make it out here an epic bottle share will be a must.
